Alright you retards listen up, I'm only gonna say this once. Fist of all, accept that it is 100% ok to be /beg. I fucking mean it.

Secondly, do these two things:

1. Perspective - Read Perspective Made Easy in its entirety and do all the exercises. Next, watch marshall vandruffs perspective course and watch Eric Olson's Perspective course. I mean it. This is fucking crucial.

2. If you wanna know how to draw heads that badly, LEARN THE SKULL. LEARN ITS PROPORTIONS. Use skull sketcher2. Its free software that lets you view a 3d model of the skull. Draw it in all angles and see how it correlates with the proportions of the face. Also you cant draw a skull without PERSPECTIVE. You also cant draw a convincing smile without knowing the muscles of the face, which cant be done either without knowing the skull. Anatomy comes the same way, the skeleton is the key, because with the skeleton and its correct proportions in 3d space, we can insert the muscles into it and with some reference here and there, learn how to attach the muscles where they belong.

Again, I reiterate. PERSPECTIVE PERSPECTIVE PERSPECTIVE
PERSPECTIVE PERSPECTIVE PERSPECTIVE !!

Master it. it is the key to everything and it is the source to all of your /beg/ problems.

>>5003304 is a prime example of this. The proportions of dogshit. Look at the distance between the nose and the brow line. Its shorter than the distance between the browline and the hairline. Another thing we can see is that the distance between the bottom of the nose and the bottom of the chin is also longer. The side plane of the right side(our right) of the forehead should barely be visible or not at all. This is all due to a lack of perspective knowledge.

Read the books I mentioned. Watch the courses.

Bonus. Read scott robertsons how to draw if you wanna learn cars and shit, but if you dont already know perspective really well, you arent going to be able to read that book at all.

What exactly do I gain from the other perspective stuff that I don’t get from Marshall’s course? I’ve watched Marshall’s and don’t rest get what else there is to it. I guess he doesn’t discuss curvilinear/spherical perspective but that’s pretty self explanatory once you understand the stuff he explains

>> No.5003693

>>5003683
Its basically just more practice, Marshall's course is very basic and so is Perspective made easy. Honestly I would go with Olson's perspective courses since he goes in way more detailed. Thats about the only difference. I do think one course is enough to learn everything about perspective. If you watch Olson's you get more milage. Its a way longer course and it starts with the cone of vision which is extremely important. I would give it a watch.

Makesure you have fun. Do not burn yourself out. take a 5 minute break after every 30 minutes of fundie grind, that way its not so grindy and you can put in alot of hours a day. If you feel you are burning out, stop. Take a day off or 2. If you dont, you might end up taking moths off, take it from me. Imagination is for fun. Don't ever worry about the result. If you hate it, just tell yourself that the only thing that can happen is that you will get better, and its true. Trust me. In the end, what's the point of it all if its not fun?

But I feel like I really get it from Marshall’s course alone, the concept isn’t that complicated really. I’m not saying it’s always easy to execute but I really can’t think of something I wouldn’t be able to do with what I learned from Marshall’s course, surely it would be better to sink the hours into practice than over 100 hours of video making the same point. Just humour me, what is one example of something I would be able to learn from eriks course that would actually benefit my drawing? Cause it seems more like I’m jut learning from the practice

heres a drawing I did a while ago, can you do this?

On a side note, its not about what you think you can't do. Its about having done perspective drawings so many times that it becomes second nature. The more you practice the better. Olson would not only refresh your perspective memory, it would re enforce it. It would give you more things to do. More drawing means that you will become a better draftsman and later evolve into a better artists.

I don’t think you did because I’ve seen this exact drawing before, but yeah I could definitely do this with the stuff on Marshall’s course, and like you said it’s about practice, not autistically sinking tons of time into video courses for things you already understand

This,fucking this.

I'll go a bit farther: get comfortable drawing primitives, especially circles. Your drawing, ideally, should be as comfortable as your writing, and your strokes should be confident.

One more: stop drawing with your wrists!! Draw with your shoulder! Your goal should be long, confident strokes.

This is purely confidence. If you have a sketchbook, I'd recommend filling a page with nothing but long, fluid lines. Get used to the pencil.

>> No.5003868

>>5003865

>>5003865

I don't see a problem with sketchy lines for a sketch, these are all clearly sketches. You throw a bunch out there to find the right one, then clean it up later, that's a method many artists use.

>> No.5003876

>>5003865
I already do this

>> No.5003893

>>5003873

The problem in this case is not knowing where the lines you're putting down are going. Most artists who use 'chicken scratch' as an under drawing usually do so as a form of gesture drawing, to put down the idea of their subject without commiting to final linework too early.

It's bad, generally, to encourage drawing shortcuts to folks just beginning to learn to draw.

This is why i recommend getting comfortable with the pencil before anything.
