Not the person you're replying to but that's what I do. I've avoided doing studies or "grinding fundies". I'm not the best artist and I'm not saying either of you are wrong. I don't think you should always just draw what you enjoy. For example there are things that I dont enjoy drawing because i'm not very good at drawing them, and I'm not good at drawing them because I avoid drawing things I don't enjoy. It's a vicious cycle that lead me to stagnate.

On the other hand I think grinding fundies can be just as if not more detrimental. I dont believe drawing a thousand boxes will do anything but make you better at drawing boxes. And thats only if you actively try to make cool looking boxes, if you just mindlessly grind a thousand boxes it's possible to have not improved at all. There are a lot of artists with a deep understanding of the fundamentals, they make great teachers but they arent always the best artists. Think proko or sycra.

I think you should spend most of your time just trying to draw cool stuff that you like. But don't let yourself get comfortable only drawing one thing, you have to push yourself to draw things that your aren't very good at drawing. Try to draw things you like even if you're bad at them, and study the fundamentals when you don't understand something. If you can't draw cool poses like you want then thats when studying anatomy and gesture will become beneficial. But don't be mindless about it, apply it to your drawings until it looks good.

Every professional who's made it agrees with OP though. They say to do specific studies in preparation for things you want to draw (and will draw after the studies) instead of random practice. Random practice is just a way for ngmis to convince themselves that they're doing something.

same same, I have it deleted because when it's downloaded I just wind up playing it all day and don't draw at all. I convince myself to redownload every couple of months thinking I'll just play 1 or 2 games and spend the rest of the day drawing but it just never turns out that way. I'll binge games all day until I come to my senses.

You have any drawings of volibear? He's one of my favorite champions. Although I started maining kayle recently. She helps me to tilt faster and delete the game so i can get back into drawing lol.

These league comics are gold lol. I'd like to see you use a brush more like a traditional pencil. Your digital art loses the energy your /trad/ drawings have.

Also my blog is dead, don't worry about following back. Never finish anything so nothing to post. I'm rarely happy with my sketches and I'm completely lost when it comes to coloring.

My blog is dead, and I'm flattered you asked but I never thought of myself at being good at drawing armor, always have a hard time with it. But what helps me the most is looking at reference. I usually draw nude figure and add clothing or armor on top. And thats when I start looking up reference photos. So the reference photos don't match my drawings pose I cant 1:1 photocopy. I just try to look at the different pieces of armor and how they fit together and attempt to draw them on top of my figure. alot of light scratchy sketching and erasing is involved.

It's an addiction basically. Like drugs and alcohol it's a way to escape reality and feel good about yourself. It's easy to feel like you achieved something in videogames if you invest a lot of time into them and it feels good to be better than others. I have wasted my entire youth with games like tf2 and dota 2, got like 10k hours in only these two games, and I really regret that.

Hah thanks bro I've been meaning to test out different brushes but I always seem to forget (and since I'm busy with big projects I never really make time for it) but I'll try to after I finish my current pieces.
