if that's enough to knock the wind out of you, you weren't cut out for it.

neuroplasticity is a copout for spergs who decide to take up an artistic hobby and don't see fast enough improvement. develop a structured routine, practice daily, and don't kick yourself. if you fuck up, just get back to it the next day. you can miss a day, but never two. the difference between the pros and amateurs is that the pros kept at it even when things got boring, shitty, etc.

now go draw, OP. don't shit on your potential. treat practice like it's a job -- put your hours in, meet your quotas, but just don't stop honing your craft. godspeed, you dumb fuck
