It is better to spend all those hours drawing, than to spend them learning Chinese to end up reading tutorials that teach the same as the ones you can find in English. If it is only for that it is not worth it

Even Ruan Jia's and wei feng tutorials and time lapse in youtube are chinese and the captions are not enabled, basically the settings are in such a way that viewers can't translate it. Meanwhile 95% of comments are english asking for translation. GREEDY Chinese scums most of them.

After watching the video I have the impression that all I need to be an concept artist is to know 3d modelling, combine images from google and do a couple dabs of paint brush to blend them and some basic knowledge of composition? Or I'm wrong, and I need to know first how to draw and paint without these 'cheats' ? I noticed that most of these concept artists from the video started this way.

despite its tendency to copy things and high government regulation, the sheer numbers means that they’re still going to have tons of artists who actually draw really well, and at the end of the day will have twice the number of good artists as the West

Yes, they don't actually paint. Except what's enough to paint over their literal photographs obtained from google. That's why the Chinese artists such as the one in the OP are actually respected by the concept art community, because they're pretty much the only people who skillfully paint without cheating. Of course, give or take a few western painterly artists and many of the japanese animu artists who also put in a lot of work. But other than them? Pretty much every concept artist has one guy standing looking slightly to the left. That's why it's considered soulless. There was a d/ic/k complaining about how they had to photobash everything and was almost fired because they didn't. That's how bad it is.

Based. To me the coloring is muddy. Look at it from far away and it looks very hard to read. Zoom in and you can finally see detail. It's like reverse version of those abstract paintings that can only be viewed from far away but look like just a bunch of colors up close.

I don't know man put this thing in black and white and look at it. It's a fucking value masterpiece, reads like a dream, textures beautiful, anatomy indication on the stomach is killer. It's not Blizzard Splash Art bright but it's also not classical "mostly earth tones" either. I'd be pretty fucking happy if I did this (I can't, but if I did).
