why don't people better explain how spiritual and magical drawing is? trying to teach someone how to draw in mundane terms is useless

feeling the form is magical, you have to really believe the canvas is three dimensional. you have to visualize and mentally put yourself in the position that you are creating real life on the canvas, you need to feel the cheek bones jutting out of the face, you have to imagine that you are constructing the bones and pulling them out from the ether and into a world that exists in your mind.

it is far more mystical than it is practical. it's not like being a carpenter with precise measurements, it's like being a wizard

Coom is the purest form of art there is. We charge or inner monkey to make our darkest and purest dreams come to life, we draw what we want the most, we feel the form like no other artist, we master the human figure, we can create monster that no one has ever seen.
Coom art is the best art.

Spiritual teachings must be understood intuitively rather than analytically in order for them to make sense, and the only way to accomplish that is to reach those conclusions yourself through practice and experience. But since institutionalised education is purely analytical, most people are more comfortable being told that they'll become good if they grind Loomis heads for 1000 hours.

this. all of my biggest art breakthroughs are all really weird abstract ideas that just sound crazy if I try to explain them to people who don't draw. even people who do draw will think it sounds strange unless they've felt it too

>drawings turn out good when your mind is in the dreamy feel mode as you draw. it's like the headspace right before you fall asleep
>your hand should feel flowy and watery when you draw. the harry potter wand feel. never stiff like when you write
>you should get the zbrush sculpting feel as you draw 2 dimensionally on a piece of paper
>feel the form

> Feel the form
I think Vilppu is the only one that I know of who touches on this.
In his videos sometimes I think he really tries to convey what he's experiencing when he's drawing, and it's not some dry, analytical, left-brain, step-by-step technique.

Does anyone try and convey this stuff? I guess Betty Edwards to an extent is trying to get this point across.

The problem is the analytical mind is so loud and over emphasized in everything, it's very hard to switch into different modes of working.

Alan Moore talks about it from a general creativity point of view. You'd have to digest and translate that into how it applies to visual art and your process yourself, but it's worth the work it takes to do so.

Pretty sure there are other interviews but this one was specifically about his views on shamanism, magic, and how it all relates to the creative process.

I agree. The best art comes from flow state. Very meditative.
