Does anyone have any books/guides on eye placement for anime style heads in different positions? Even knowing the general placement on real heads doesnt really help especially faces that point towards the right

>> No.4903823

No, there aren't any. And the ones you can find are written by amateurs that can't draw for shit.
Learn perspective. Copy anime artists. That's it. There's no secret formula.

>Even knowing the general placement on real heads doesnt really help
Sounds like you need to draw more

>> No.4903834

Study old school Disney then cheapen it because that's all anime is.

Study the scull, study the eye. Draw head turnarounds. Get a figure and use it as a guide or even better, sculpt one. There’s a lot of ways to go about it really.

Welcome to the difficulties of stylisation, that you can't just pick up any photo and get the answer. There's a reason why stylisation is harder than realism. Keep a folder of favourite anime artworks and refer to it

>Even knowing the general placement on real heads doesnt really help
You should study more, both realism and anime. If you know what an eye looks like in many angles and have drawn it yourself, identifying it in an anime drawing will be a lot easier. Eyes are hard and I don’t blame you, but cmon you should know what to do.

learning the real thing is just about the only thing that will help you, animu follows the same logic as the human head but details are softened and washed out into ambiguity, or distorted by cartoon expressions, so understanding what it's deviating from is important.

It's the same, you just shring the rule of thirds on nose, mouth, chin cause
>smaller cutter obsession
And double the eyes one. Or just use the classic rule of thirds and shift the eyes as you like until you get it the way it pleases you.

This Facebook page here is the place to go for something close to what you're looking for.

Go to facebook and visit a page called "manga materials", it has Japanese characters on it. They have a huge library there. (4chan wont lemme post the link srry)
Also, go to characterdesignreferences.com and check out their visual library. It'll help you a lot.

I think that depends entirely on how you define realism. Are they talking about copying photographic reference and drawing from life or invention?
The latter becomes more difficult the higher you aim for realism. Simplified anime heads are objectively easier to draw on model consistently from imagination compared to doing doing the same in a hyper realist style.

>> No.4909422

appealing anime heads that aren't in profile or front view often don't follow proper perspective but still look appealing. i.e. in a 3/4th view the eye is put closer to the ear than would be proper.

>> No.4910773

>>4909422
this guy fking gets it, anime style is inconsistent at times and prioritizes more on the convenience of appeal. At certain angles it does not follow proper anatomy and perspective.
