And a tip, turn the photo in photoshop or some program in black and white, so you can practice value more effective.

I have two questions, sorry if they are extremely /beg/ tier:

If I am copying drawings to practice and I try to construct them with basic shapes, they never look accurate, but I do not want to copy just for the sake of copying, is this normal? I think this is happening because I am unable to understand and measure the basic underlying shape. Should I keep copying drawings this way or should I try to be more accurate copying without construction?

What would you recommend to someone that is struggling drawing the same face twice? I tried to draw faces from different angles and my character never looked the same.

Sorry for my english, drawing is not the only thing I am trying to get better at

Imagination isn't something you can grind or focus on, it comes from being able to soak up details from the world around you and then letting your brain freely make connections between disparate ideas and symbols. It's a subconscious process, if your mind isn't already overflowing with surreal imagery then trying to force it into existence will only result in contrivance. Surreal stems from the real, so focus on the real things you can see every second you can, while breaking down your own prejudices of what makes something boring or interesting. Do that for long enough and crazy ideas will seem to come to you out of nowhere, leaving you feeling like you have no choice but to create them. Through that process your brain will pick up on so many rules of what makes something look like it exists in front of your eyes that Loomis etc. will seem more like the distilled basics of systems of thought you were already arriving at on your own rather than bewildering technical manuals.

tl;dr: Listen to more Funkadelic

the way you drew her pussy looks so off putting. It's quite clear that you don't have much of an understanding of anatomy.

Her hand is flat. the perspective of her left leg is off. It looks like you drew her torso as a literal cylinder/tube.

It looks like you're shading something you don't have a firm grasp of. FEEL THE FORM.

and use a reference. my god.

also, please look at a real vagina. maybe that will help you in the future.

Started this a few months back as an entry into using my Wacom, first of all I sinned and traced what I have so far, but in my defence I've gained a better understanding of bodyshape and colour.

I was on a roll with this right up until I hit trying to do the hair, I'm not going to trace it but every time I've tried to tackle it I've not liked it. Seen a few guides but it put me in a slump real bad (That plus going back into work giving me less time).

Plan is once I've got the hair how I want it I'm going to go back and touch up all the other finer details that either don't look right, are still rough, or the shading/colours need work.

Honestly by the end I want this to look good, because it's the most detailed piece I've worked on so far.

thanks anon, i learnt that drawing from life and drawing what you see is more important than learning every plane of the face although planes are still important to learn, and learning of the two side/cheek planes are the most important to understanding the form of the face and how the face has thickness to it, you need a balance of doing a course (marco buccis, villpus head course etc) and drawing from good photo references to apply the knowledge you learn. I think the most important expereice i have learnt is just the power of drawing daily, a lot of days i would never have drawn if it wasnt for the fact i didnt want to break my streak so i feel this challenge is good for beginners as it keeps you going, having a goal is very important to keep yourself on track
