Notebloc is a pretty good app for this particularly because it'll remove the skewing you get from taking photos with your phone. You'll probably still want to do some editing to salvage the quality but you're going to have to do that with most scanners as well.

I didn't think it would happen because I didn't think people would end up caring but normalfags have basically killed Inktober. There are so many people doing custom prompts, and so much residual asspain about Jake that Inktober isn't really the organized "community" event that it was previously. It's harder to contribute to a collective project when no one is doing the same thing. It kills the incentive for participation as well as for the curiosity of seeing what other people's takes on the prompt you did are.

I would recommend getting comfortable with the fundamentals - the more used you are to basic things like making lines, observational drawing and perspective, the easier it will be to focus on more advanced things (like portraying an idea in your mind).

For starters I suggest the Drawabox ghosted lines/planes exercise (don't worry too much about the ghosting itself, it's useful but not always mandatory like he says), and when you get bored of that, you can move on to just doing pages of parallel/overlapping lines and curves as a drawing warm-up.

I'm using microns for lineart although I really should invest in a nice dip pen! And over the last year I played around with drawing ink. Using that with a few brushes or using the Pentel Pocket Brush a lot of people recommend is otherwise what I do!

I try and study KGJ and Miss Jisu and gang to understand what makes the brush pen ink styles so appealing to me

It can be tough. I think the key is pacing yourself to avoid burnout. Sometimes the simple quick images on are better than the ones that took hours.
