for anons who don't get how the tool works, it reads your image and samples the colors, then groups similar colors (not sure how exactly this is done), then plots it on a CMY/RGB color wheel.
The size of the circles plotted correspond to the amount of that color in the image.

A complementary color scheme is a simple way to create contrast and visual interest in a painting. Other color schemes can certainly work, but are much more difficult to account for.

any good resources on color palettes and such?
I know there are complimentary colors, triadic, tetradic color schemes and such, but not how to actually use them

so what settings are you meant to use?
they seem to give radically different representations

the tool definitely isn't perfect, i also saw that somtimes colors get hid behind other circles

There's plenty of variety, just of a more subtle kind than what you're hoping for. Besides, it's a simplified model. In practice you could apply any one of these palettes to achieve a variety of radically different results.

Still a useful thread OP, would work well with a prompt like "here, take one of these palettes and apply them to a sketch of yours."

Imo the triadic etc color "schemes" and formulas are kind of unintuitive ways to approach color. Looking at the color analysis for all these pieces I see some more helpful overall trends, rather than memorizing "palettes".

>> No.4879310

>>4879290
It's hard to rationalize any scheme other than complementary or analogous as anything other than a purely academic exercise. The idea that the human brain can even recognize, let alone appreciate, a proportional triadic or tetradic color scheme is farfetched.

comparing >>4875646 and >>4875648 to non /beg/ works, I guess the key to having harmonious colors is:
>the use of greys and other neutrals more often so you can connect colors from the opposite side of the wheel
>use saturated colors sparingly
