Is it really that important to get good at drawing on paper first or is it fine if I just jump on my tablet? I prefer how paper feels and honestly fine it easier, but I like how the final product looks when you do it digitally. Any ideas of how I can simulate a pen brush digitally?

There's something screwy going on with my anatomy drawing. Are the breasts too high? Is the perspective just off? Is the head too big for the body? Or are some of my other proportions off?

None of this matters to you. Try to make things appealing do gestures and objects to have more line confidence. Keep drawing figures but focus more on shapes and your lines instead of being proportionally correct. Even if your proportions and skeletal structure where correct your piece would still not be appealing.

>> No.4867686

here's a dumb question: how do you guys store large pages of work? I wanna keep pretty much everything I draw while learning and I got an awesome deal on some huge 14"x17" and 18"x24" (36x43 and 46x61 cm) sketch pads. The only problem is that they aren't spiral bound so the pages are going to fall out eventually. Can I get expanding folders that big or is there a better way to keep them so they don't get lost or damaged?

I read that the more a plane turns away from the light source the darker it is
Why is that though? I see no reason why plane b on the shape A would be darker than plane a. They are still both directly illuminated by the light source

I'm not sure what's happening on the left side of the drawing, but here's the deal with the right side.

Plane A has a given surface area, and is positioned so that it interacts with a certain amount of light. As it turns away from the light it has the SAME surface area, but is interacting with a smaller amount of light proportionally.

To better explain, imagine a light that is projecting a 1 foot by 1 foot square beam. Now you put a 1 foot by 1 foot piece of cardboard right in front of it. Now it's interacting with 100% of the photons leaving the light. If you angle the cardboard, it has the same surface area, but some of the light will be escaping past it. Fewer photons + same surface area = dimmer (i.e. fewer of the photons bounce off and enter the eye of the viewer).

>>4871444
checked. for the perspective issue i think i might have just chose a bad composition with the tree line literally being a line and being so flush with the rock face? and the face its being hit directly with light and there arent many shadows doesnt help. maybe i should extend the canvas to the right more so i show the opposing canyon face. i actually opted on removing the bottom rocks. since i went so light on the values i was basically making them almost white and adding darker values would make it blend with the mid ground (even though it kind of does that anyways)
