If you asked normies how good one has to be at drawing before posting it online, they would say that skill doesn't matter and that all art is deserving of being posted and appreciated.

For those of you who know this is incorrect: what exactly is the skill level that needs to be reached before your art is good enough to be posted online? What's the cut-off point? What's too /beg/ to see the light of day? Discuss.

Does anyone have that screenshot of that girl with the beg tier art that has 20k+ followers?

We're not capable of quantifying that yet. Wait for AGI or whatever.

your skill level doesn't matter, you can draw like shit but if you are charismatic enough and have online presence you'll gain followers even if your art is shit.

You sold me with your trips of truth tripfag, only problem is I legitimately hate socializing with the average retard and I don’t think my art is shit, but I guess I’ll have to suck it up and lower myself to normie level

Suppose you want to be respectable and have an art page you can be proud of. No amount of charisma will mask the fact that you alone know your art sucks. So when does that feeling go away?

You can be a /beg/ and have at least somebody like your work as long as it has emotion in it. Shit art that makes somebody feel something will be more appreciated than good art that doesn't.

I'm just regurgitating the advice that seemed most logical to me from the "how to gain followers on twitter" thread, anons said that is more important being sociable to artists with more followers than you, things like "i like your art" and shit like that, if you can find another artist you really want to be friend it will make things easier, with your followers is enough to say "thank you" or "I appreciate it" and some chitchat.

Lower yourself to normy level? Dude it sounds like the problem is you don’t know your audience which means you don’t know your art. Spend some time with yourself and if you feel like you have a method of producing consistent art that makes you happy then spend tome trying to figure out why and who else might enjoy it as well for literally any reason. If not then draw more and gg faggot.

If you're a thin white girl you can post with any skill level, people will still follow and encourage you and I wish I wasn't joking

Yeah skill is just one factor, you need to be communicative and have a marketable personality too. It’s like when you see good artists with few followers, or a mediocre/okay artist with a lot of followers.

Does it really matter? If you're having fun with it, sharing it with others won't hurt anyone/

Why do /beg/s always say this shit, a thought like this has never even entered my brain yet I see this said every so often on this board

Even if you’re good at art very few people will be looking at your art anyway so what does it fucking matter what skill level you’re at, like what the fuck does this question even mean? Do you think you’ll get chased off the damn internet or something if you’re too shit?

Fuck off, nobody thinks like this. It's about dignity. If you're legitimately invested in art as a way of marketing yourself, you want to put your best foot forward by posting when your work is at a decent level of skill at least.

>a thought like this has never even entered my brain
t. no self critique, you are the deviantArt beg who shows up in cringe comps

This is the cringiest thing I’ve ever read. No one gives a shit. You are greatly overestimating the amount of thought people will give to you because you’re insecure. I’m not being ironic saying this but you sound like a gigantic cuck right now overthinking what people will think about you. You are a literal nobody. Nobody is going to care. You don’t give two seconds of thought to a random /beg/ online so why would anyone give a shit about you.
Hell, back on conceptart there was plenty of threads about people’s progress from absolute beginner status. No one ever judged these people like you seem to presume is what happens.

Anon I’ve had an internet presence coming on decades now and I work in the industry. Art is my career. But whatever you need to tell yourself to cope is fine. It’s a really weird thing to think and I’ve never heard this being said by any of my peers even as a beginner myself back in the day.

Depends on what your end goal is.For a webcomic for instance you don't have to be incredibly good at drawing to be successful if your storytelling ability makes up for it.If you're planning to get into concept art or something you should be pretty skilled before starting a portfolio
