Non autist edition. This is a thread to discuss all kinds of digital drawing hardware: non-display graphics tablets, pen display tablets, portable tablets and more.

>What should I buy?
State your:
>Budget
>Location
>Type (display? non-display? portable?)
>Size (in inches)
>Other information
>Previous equipment
>If you have any, state your preferences regarding surface texture (paper emulation, smooth etc)

Anons with corresponding tablets can provide input as to the user experience of those tablets.

>Recommended display tablets:
Wacom cintique 22 for all round features and quality (colour accuracy)

XP Pen artist 15.6 pro for price/performance value

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite for a budget portable tablet.

>Screenless tablets:

>XP-Pen Deco Pro Medium

>Huion Inspiroy H1161

>Wacom Intuos Pro 2013 line

Tech and standards for screenless tablets have plateaued over the last 2 years, so there is little real variation between same dimension products other than surface texture.

This is a non autist thread, try not to shitpost too hard. If the chinese shill poster shows up just tell him to post his work and ignore.

Look at this picture, Insporoy has the old pen because the nibs on the picture are the old style of nibs. Newer thin nibs mean there's a new better pressure sensor. New sensor just wobbles sideways much less.

Both Huion and Xp-Pen are offshoots of Ugee and it seems to me that Ugee-overlords give XP-Pen the better screenless tablets, while Huion get the better screen tablets.
If you take a look at the screenless Deco are just fucking buiolt better, they all have the new sexy pens, they have metal body and physical rotating dial instead of a touch strip.
But if you compare Kamvas and Artist it seems that Kamvas pro are superior. Kamvas pro all have laminated, etched glass and the premium option with a pro-tier AdobeRGB panel.

If you're paranoid about china and shit you might actually try and get an old used cintiq. They are going to work, but they are fucking old, the standards of quality went way up in the last decade.

If you want a new tablet AVOID Cintiq-non pro, they are neutered, cut down, inconvenient by design minimally viable products.

Take a look at the Kamvas pro 20 and 24, not 22 though, 22 is too big for 1080p while 24 is just right for 1440p.
Kamvas offer a laminated chemically etched glass with better colors than an old cintiq. Wacom only offer that in their new Cintiq Pro model line, except it costs over 2000$

As drawing displays goes, I was wondering which one supports those vesa desktop arms? I never got around to using one with my old tablet, but drawing in my lap or on the desk was always a pain in the ass

With my already horrendous posture, it's probably better to just get a mountable tablet, even if it's bigger. If I can't find anything before going back to work, I may end up getting a XP Pen artist 15.6 or Kamvas Pro 16 just to practice with, if I can find an old used Wacom tablet in that size range on Ebay/Amazon.

Hmmmm.
I just checked the website and the differnce is:
Artist 15.6 Pro - Laminated glass, new sexy pen that feels nice, but not etched glass, just a screen protector film

Kamvas 16 - laminated and etched glass, but the pen is old and meh. These pens, they work, they might even be really easy to control due to long nib travel, BUT the fucking nib wobbles sideways and it just feels stupid. Doesn't really affect performance, I used such pens for years, but you can feel it, and it's stupid.

Kamvas Pro 16 Premium - same, plus an actually good display panel. It looks really entising and would be a perfect choice if it had the new sexy pen, but it doesnt. It uses the old pen.

So it's a choice between etched glass and sexy pen. I have no idea, what's more important for you, I would probbly get the kamvas. Or no, I;m confused too.

I personally don't know if you can use the new Huion Pen on older Huion Products. It works with Xp-Pen and the pens are cross-compatible, but I don't know about huion,

I will always recommend screenless tablets. There's far less that can go wrong. You dont have to worry about ergonomics, parallax, colour accuracy, temperature or maintenance. They're a cheaper investment and can produce identical results. In addition, unless you go for the absolute top of the line display tablets, there will always be compromises. Colour accuracy being the biggest.

Apple and Samsung tablets work, but theyre pretty much just toys. You need something that has access to all of the major drawing software.

>Firstly, an as mentioned by many- the surface has been altered to generate more friction. The result is more rapidly degrading nibs. Where previously I'd go through a couple every year, these were lasting weeks.
I'd give Wacom the benefit of the doubt and assume a misstep as they simply wanted to offer a more papery feel to the experience, but the evidence doesn't reflect that.

>The tip of nibs are identical to all their previous pen nibs. However, the other end of the nibs- the end you push into the pen, have been altered for this generation. Older nibs are incompatible as a result.
There is no discernible practical benefit to this change, other than to prevent customers from using nibs from previous pens. Most like myself will have plenty- because it was never an issue until Wacom designed it to be one.

>Wacom of course sell replacement nibs (which presumably they didn't sell enough of), and they also sell replacement surfaces for £29.99- including the original surface which doesn't wear nibs down by design. Do they really need to do this? The product is not a cheap and cheerful toy with no profit margin. It's a £300+ professional device.

not looking for advice, just wanted this out somewhere. my current and only digital tablet is the ancient bamboo fun. Lately the cable has to be angled in a certain way to connect properly and I'm too autistic to know what the cable itself is called and practically every replacement is discontinued.
