Am I being rused that's the most hard round brush coloring I've ever seen. You know opacity is enabled, right?

how do i enable opacity for hard round brush

Why is it called *hard* round brush when there's obvious opacity and bledning involved?

read your program's documentation or use the search engine

Because it's not a soft edge brush
Left is hard edge, right is soft edge, and you can totally blend with the left

whenever I see artists blocking in color pic related doesnt seem to happen when they use more than one stroke how do they achieve this?

>> No.4783885

>>4783866
That's normal with opacity pressure/less than 100% opacity, soften it out with more strokes using your opacity pressure + color picking
You COULD use the "Greater" blending mode (in Krita, not sure if Photoshop/CSP have that one) to prevent that but I don't think it's a common workflow, and you don't really want to mess with blending modes when learning either

I think they do it in one stroke.

Alternatively they make a new layer and set layer opacity after blocking in colour.

>>4783866
pen sensitivity is enabled? hard round has options too. PS has one called hard round pressure opacity, does this
or you can just play with opacity as you go but that's kinda annoying

Personally I almost never use hard round except for a few small details that need a really sharp edge

i hate when this shit happens, what program are you using?

>> No.4785769

>>4783866
ah, I used to have the same problems when I was getting into digital many years ago. This only happens when you're working with dark colors and low flow. If you were painting with a similar shade of gray and high flow it wouldn't happen.

hard round brush is unironically a meme. Use soft/air brush first then use hard flat square brush for hard edges.

>> No.4786444

>>4786405
Other way around, or only use soft airbrush and lasso

at 5:35 he starts actually blending with the hard brush and it starts coming out streaky like always, then he changes some setting and when he starts blending again it comes out super smooth. Bunch of comments on the video are asking about it and nobody can come with an answer. He clearly changes something.

Yeah I saw that, but it really seems he tries to blend it, turns out like shit, hits undo and changes something, then does the exact same blend strokes and it comes out smooth.

does make me wonder, does the default round brush in Photoshop have some wetness to it?

>> No.4789773

>>4789438
it looks like he's either changing the softness of the brushtip between strokes to get different edges or straight up using a mixer brush.

>> No.4789776

>>4789622
it's definitely closer to the dry example, where it gets streaky if you overlay 2 strokes. I looks like the wet one if you don't lift the pen off the tablet and do one continuous stroke. I'm not even sure there is a 'wet' option for brushes in ps.

>> No.4789786

>>4789773
Is it still a 'hard round' brush if the hardness is set that low?

Also how big of a brush size should I be using to blend? I keep hearing to use the biggest size possible for neat brush strokes/economy, but every tutorial/timelapse I see does the exact opposite and just carves away with the tiniest brush for hours.

it's not just hard round, its also a mixture of soft round, blur/merge/eraser/lasso shit (or equivalent) with a bit of color picking to avoid the weird cymk artefacting that comes with tool based painting. All you have to do now is learn how to draw and you too can become a real tawawa, dishwasher1910 etc.. renderchad

Yes, it seems that way because he is lying to you and laughing directly in your face in the comments. He has the ultra secret brush that all the pros use that automatically makes you a good artist. He's not just going to give that power to a scrub like you.

>> No.4792980

>>4789438
>>4789588
The 'streaky' brush-stroke is just so he can colour pick a colour between the skin tone and the colour he already had selected. He ctrl-zs it away, and continues painting with the intermediate colour; he changes no settings.
