Is June 27 when you started drawing? If so, then despite the obvious shortcuts you took (poor reflection and choice of brush size), you're right where you need to be. Your perspective is alright and the chess piece is nicely detailed and only slightly asymmetrical. You might not see as much improvement than what you imagined when you started, but your self-critique means the book absolutely worked for you.

Keep drawing still lifes whenever you can, nothing too complicated, but also read a figure drawing book next. Huston's Figure Drawing for Artists is great.

I'm not loving you, way I wanted to
What I had to do, had to run from you
I'm in love with you, but the vibe is wrong
And that haunted me, all the way home
So you never know, never, never know
Never know enough, 'til it's over love
'Til we lose control, system overload
Screaming, "No, no, no, n-nooo!"
I'm not loving you, way I wanted to
See I wanna move, but can't escape from you
So I keep it low, keep a secret code
So everybody else don't have to know
So keep your love lockdown—your love lockdown
Keeping your love lockdown—your love lockdown
Now keep your love lockdown—your love lockdown

First I make sure the construction is right or atleast close to it, always trying to think of what I'm drawing as simple 3D shapes. I don't worry about the little details and try to separate just all the shadow from all the light, after I get that right then I move on to half-tones and smaller details within the shadows.

Of course I'm bad and couldn't do it very well, but I think that's how most artists think of it, atleast when they start training.

Tracing as a form of study is fine if your focus is on construction and landmarks of the body over contour tracing, so you’re on the right track. I’d say push the construction further - try to suss out the major forms of the body as you do this i.e. ribcage, hips, etc. Also I’d recommend picking a better ref to study, the black of her shorts make it hard to see how her hips and thighs connect. With all that said definitely try to construct by eye as well, but there’s nothing wrong with what you’re doing.

Here's my current Learning/studying step.
1) Draw construction directly on model, not trace, draw the construction.
2) redraw the construction using the model & previous construction
3) Line art on the construction on (2)

And the reasons why i think yours are wrong.
1) Tracing usually means you're tracing what the contour have, but you should learn the construction instead.
2) There's no point to use the traced construction to draw line art. Unless you're just practicing to draw lineart from construction. But it won't help you to study how to construct the body.
If you draw a new construction merely from reference and not tracing, your lineart can then show you the difference between your finished lineart and the reference, so you can learn your mistakes.

sure, for starters the arm is really off, look at the arm in the reference, the forearm is almost completely horizontal and the hand is big enough to stretch out all the way to the thigh. the arm behind it is almost completely blocked by the arm on the front.

and then there are the legs, the leg on the front is curving inwards in the reference and the leg behind has a much steeper slope.

the head in your drawing is also not tilting back enough. in the reference, the chin is nearly horizontal and dips lower than the shoulder, fingers and knee whereas in the drawing its higher than the knee and fingers and only slightly below the shoulders

lastly the angle of the front foot is a sideview and does not show any sole.

I don't know anon, I don't really think a /beg/'s ideas would be anywhere as good a professional's. For example, ask a beg and a pro to construct and draw a scenario. The beg would struggle (obviously), but the pro would know what works from his experience and technical skills. Your technical skills will inform your ideas, and vice versa, so I don't really think it's fair to call them two separate things when they obviously influence each other and are very closely related. Hope I made sense, dummy.
All that aside, art is super subjective for a reason, if you're still /beg/ I don't see value in trying to define what it is concretely, your perception of it will obviously change as you hone your craft.

Art is the visual form of an internal feeling, emotion, or thought that the artist wishes to express.

That's why multiple artist collaborations are a lesser art, and why pieces that rely on an outward perspective or outward input to materialize meaning, such as "modern" or " avant garde" are not art.
If you place a spoon on the wall and expect the meaning to be derived from and by the act of the patrons viewing and questioning it itself, and think you're being meta, you are not an artist. It's ridiculous.

Never grind. Studies are means to an end. Never study for the sake of doing it. You'll always want to have some kind of goal behind it.
You don't grind anatomy. Instead you'll draw from reference (and also imagination) certain body parts and maybe on a certain angle too because you don't know what it looks like and you keep fucking up. If you know what you're messing up, but you don't know the solution, you study for the purpose of correcting that.

>But what do I grind.
Decide what you're weak at and then practice that part. If you still don't know what you're weak at then compare yourself to other artists. Then you'll know what to "grind"

I know I'm not good either and I also feel frustrated but at least I can't feel lost because I know there's always something I can improve on to reach my goals.

Drawing a traditional face is ten times harder than drawing an anime face, always.
What the shitters on Pixiv do is irrelevant.

The difficulty of something is shouldn't be an indicator of quality. Don't take pride on it.
You should draw whatever you want to draw anyway. I don't feel the need to look down on other types of art because they're different.

The point that was being discussed earlier was the difficulty and time frame it would take to achieve a certain level of skill. in an easier genre it would definitely be a quicker time to improve than if you had to worry about lips and nostrils

I fail do see how you differentiate the two, what is enough? what does make it art then? why do you say so surely that it does not conveys any emotion?

I am confuse because I use a pretty similar definition of art. but I would consider a spoon on the wall art as long it is able to evoke a feeling that just a spoon on the wall shouldn't.

nothing, it is the rules of thirds. they probably wanted to fit forehead, the nose, and the chin mouth area each in a third, but they couldn't so they just ignored the forehead.

Don't draw porn. Just don't. Porn is a low quality product, all of it, real or fictional. I'm kinda shocked how people like sakinichan can charge hundreds of dollars for her drawings and she also has a patreon. People just eat her works up. It's ridiculous how she's still making countless amounts of money while everything she makes is indistinguishable from each other. Plus she does' weird shit like homosexuality.
I do not understand why a single picture could cost hundreds of dollars. I do not understand the people on spend that much money on something so simple. It's just as bad as that onlyfans shit. As a skill, still drawings just isn't that complicated. Animating? Yeah, now that is a different ball game. Of course I'm talking non porn animations.

That's not an argument. Understanding and not making sense, I said that because it doesn't make sense. As a skill, it's far more easier to draw then let's say, become a heart surgeon.

You can self teach drawing and become a good drawer, but that doesn't work for many things.
