I've started to do frame by frame studies of Street Fighter 3 animations to improve my skill with poses and anatomy as well as following movement. Is this an effective way to improve? I think it's really fun.

As much as I love both games art styles, I acknowledge that CPS3's art style is far more technical than the simple gray scaling employed by CPS2. But it is impressive how far you can stretch the 16 color limit of CPS2.

Yes, i would copy the sprites for anatomy study and character design and it helped me improve it's accurate anatomy, stylized enough and more importantly designed to be extremely legible.

Capcoms marvel designs are my favorite interpretation.

The SF 30th anniversary collection has a frame by frame gallery of SF2, Alpha, and 3. Only of special moves though. Maybe it's in a higher resolution than your website. Also some other art pieces.
Oh and SF3: New Generation had an artbook. They had the original sketches of the move sequences. You can see ibuki naked and Elena carrying a fucking spear to a street fight.
