What screen protector do you use? I have the elecom one and it devours my iPad’s pencil nibs. I have to buy a new pack every other month

>> No.4720446

I use one of those glass ones. I heard the ones with texture can fuck up your nibs pretty fast. So I just learned to draw on a very smooth surface.

I just had to remove my glass one because it was fucking up my diagonal lines. Made them look Surface Pro tier.

But the Pencil doesn't use nibs? It uses nib covers. How exactly do they become unusable?

I just ordered the Elecom yesterday. I was going to go with Paperlike 2, but their shipping times are all fucked up due to covid and they dont know when they're going to go out. And it was hard to know if their exceptional quality was just a result of good marketing and overpricing to make it seem good.

Did you get the 'rough' version or the 'smooth' one? Besides devouring your nibs, do you like it / would you recommend it? I did a ton of research before buying one and Elecom seemed like it was the best one in terms of feel, screen quality and price.

I think it’s the rough one and yeah I like how it feels and everything. It’s just like sandpaper on your nibs though. Put a new nib on two days ago and I’m already seeing some of the surface grinding down

It grinds down to the point that it stops detecting it at certain angles

I have the new 12.9 with it on

I really hated the glass ones as any form of mark could change the speed of the pen on it and I hated having to constantly wipe it (im very light handed), it actually feels like im drawing on paper with a slightly thicker pencil(i normally use very thin mechanical pencils) and the speed is consistent.

Not a lot i can say really, the price is good enough that its worth just trying it out thats all that i did

I use the Supershieldz matte screen protectors. I like the brand a lot. I never use the glass ones because they're too "smooth"

I've heard mixed reviews. Some say it's marginally better than the 1, some say its a little bit of a different feel (for the worse). Overall it sounds like a solid yet overpriced protector.

I ordered one yesterday then canceled it when I saw that their shipping system is fucked due to Covid-19 and they seemingly had no estimated delivery date. I'm getting an iPad Pro 11" later today and wanted something now, so waiting on a Paperlike 2 is unrealistic.

Just ordered Photodon's 9HO protector cuz I like their MXO on my Huion, and I want something a little hardier for the on the go tablet. Crisp image quality and I'm a weirdo who likes drawing on glass.

>> No.4722484

My elecom wore down 1 nib then by the time the second nib would wear down the surface itself wore down now it's smooth.
but this is how they all are you cant have rough surface that wont wear down ur nib
this is how real pencil works go try draw with pencil on glass...
the paper grinds out the pencil and that's how u get a mark
you cant have both rough and not wear down the nib so make ur choice it's law of physics so don't fall for some youtuber selling you shit

Is drawing on a screen protector really that much better than drawing on glass?

Should I buy a Yellow-Price PET protector?

>> No.4722528

Ive been using paperlike for my pro for a year now.

I was worried about the nibs too when I first got my pencil so I got the extra nibs as well but I havent needed to change. Theres a slight indent in the pencil nib but its no where the horror stories Ive been reading.

I got my Elecom yesterday and it is a massive improvement. I cannot believe how well it works. First off, the screen haze is negligable. I can't notice any discoloration or blurriness at all, which is a relief since I was real worried about that. I also heard that it was 'too rough' (I got the rough version). I don't find this to be the case at all. Honestly, I wish it had even more tooth to it. Only con is that getting it on was kind of a pain in the ass, but nothing a little patience and a clean workspace can't fix. I saw on Amazon that they make Elecoms for Cintiqs 22HD so I ordered one right after this.

I'm never drawing on glass again. Fuck that.

>>4722492
IMO, yes. It's a much more appealing drawing experience. The tactile feedback is definitely worth the price & negligible screen effects.

How the fuck do you clean your hand oil off of the (Elecom) screen protectors without damaging it?
