Why You Should Copy Anime:
https://i.imgur.com/zNDsyF0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_IODIIYAe0&feature=youtu.be

**Strive for quantity AND quality.**

Anime Studying:
>Copy anime references exactly and draw them from memory. Use illustrations, screenshots, anime figures, 3D models, etc.
>Don’t copy recklessly. Use construction, color theory, and other fundamental concepts to rehearse a drawing process that you can later easily manipulate for original artwork.
>Post all of your anime studies. Post even when you’re told not to. Create an art community that actually draws and improves together instead of just talking about it.
>Number your attempts and link to your previous posts.
>Critiquers should lead by example by posting their studies.

General Anime Style Discussion:
>Questions about achieving certain styles/techniques/compositions etc.
>Drawing methods, study habits, resources, tutorials, tools, software, etc
>Be specific and try to post a sample of your study attempts before asking for help.

**Draw copies from good anime styled references to mindfully up our mileage, internalize appealing aesthetics, and learn from each other’s processes and knowledge.**

Do you guys see any reason not to use Krita for drawing anime? It's not just about the money, I highly prefer OpenSource over proprietary. I'm watching Hampton and this is giving me a much clearer idea of what I read in his book, I watched all of Vilppu's videos and Hampton is heavily influenced by him, he mentions it himself. But his approach is much less abstract than Vilppu’s, so I’m having a better time.

Really simple pencil brush probably. You could make one in whatever program by plugging in some TV static into the texture and fiddling with a couple settings. Set it to have a wide Taper so you can push and release to that nice mid line expression.

Also post processing. lot of sharpening and noise from look of it. Really subtle chromatic aberration. Like one pixel worth and then lower the opacity of that layer so it's not as apparent. And then just go to town on it with Grey Color dodge and a big soft round brush.

nips are not chinks and are honorary white. Also my problem is not mainly the race, but more the gender. I want to draw cute girls or at least men who pretend to be girls.

Also with these things the problem often isn't the thing itself, but the intention of the person doing it. He clearly has a preference to draw diverse faggotry, so why would I want to learn from somebody who clearly has a completely different taste and focus than myself. He probably knows way more about how to draw big black cocks, than drawing the titts and vago. So if you are a furry artist, this guy might be helpful. At your current level, I think it's just better to move on and do better on the next drawing. Though what I'm saying is not meant to discourage you, but to convince you to use your time more efficiently, since your drawing seems to be finished already.
As for things to improve, I think anatomy would be the main issue. The face feels too 2-dimensional, and the eyes, nose and mouth don't seem to have any volume at all, even if you did add some shadow on the eyes. Speaking of shadows, the shading is way too soft to be able to convey volume. It feels like you didn't really know where to put them, and decided to add them in vague areas where you think they would most likely appear. Going back to the anatomy: the chest area is a bit fucked. From the lines, I can't tell where the clavicle ends and where the manubrium starts. As to the hands, the fingers are WAY too long. For reference, the length of a middle finger should roughly be the same length as the palm of a hand. Now as to what's happening in the drawing, I'm not really sure. Is that like a cover page? Because otherwise it feels a bit aimless. But that's my personal opinion. What I do like though, is the design, I think it does the job.

Overall, the biggest advice I could give you is to draw a LOT from reference, since that's how you're going to notice what's wrong with your anatomy. Also try to flip your canvas often. By doing this, it gives you a fresh new perspective on your piece, and you instantly see if something doesn't look right. For example, I noticed by flipping the canvas that one eye is too low compared to the other.

Hope my wall of text was useful!

Well she is black, I experimented a little also with the nose. But it's certainly not where I want it to be. I'm trying quantity over quality atm. and just drawing during meetings while remote working. Trying to convert real women I find on 4chan into anime.

I hope you can get over the buffed girls, maybe try to draw pretty curvy women like pic related first. It's also not my favorite body type, but it's quite fun and in anime curves are often quite exaggerated.

Well first I would add some highlight to eyes and hair. That will certainly already improve it a lot. Then you can certainly improve a lot on shadows in general, they are not visible enough. And after all that is done you might consider doing something with your lines. I think with you arms for example you should do the opposite. Thicker on the bottom, thinner on top. Also the chin looks a bit harsh, maybe use a thinner and or softer line, not sure. But it's not bad at all. I'm sure just adding some highlight will improve it a lot.

I can draw a basic anime head that looks "ok" by applying proper head construction techniques. But I don't understand how to push it further to "perfect" level. I have difficulty seeing what is exactly is wrong past a certain point. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

I'm thinking maybe stop focusing on trying to perfect it now and let it intuitively improve over time.

I really tried to save it bro, I did what I could with mesh transformation
here are some things I noticed

I understand and it’s good to use box shapes for the ribcage, but you ignored the angle, her ribcage is literally perpendicular with the floor, this left the torso stiff and without rhythm.
the legs are not connected with the pelvis, this gives the impression that muscles like tensor fascia lata and quads are missing in her left leg, and the rectus abdominis/external oblique strangely projected forward
study the muscles that connect in the greater trochanter, femur and pelvis

this also gave the feeling that the torso was very long, but not because of the proportion of the head but because of the distance between the tenth rib and the pelvis

the navel also needs to be better positioned, but I couldn't fix it without ruining the grainy texture.
Overall I liked it, but as it's already finished I think it's not worth fixing and it's better to move on to another drawing

I would recommend you to read Hampton, but that would trigger some retarded

Feet are one thing I feel like I just intuitively know because, well, I'm a massive footfag and I have like 20+ years worth of a mental visual foot library from looking at so many. Here I drew really basic feet from 3 different views, then combined the info into what I drew in my pic. As far as my knowledge goes it should be right, but still somehow it feels like it's wrong.

head doesn't seem to have any major planes the features rest on, see pic rel. for major facial planes, proportions, and construction. look at hampton and also at asaro heads.
a lot of the anatomy you added here like the mastoid, trapezius, clavicle, etc. are superficial 2d lines rather than showing the underlying 3d forms. this is made worse by the tattoos not wrapping around anything.
you NEED to be thinking in 3D. Look at Vagabond or Sun-Ken Rock for examples of extremely juicy detailed anime with well defined planes and anatomy. good luck.

I think your foreshortening is wrong. I tried to fix it but I am also retarded and don't know if mine is right either. One thing I do know, though, is that you should make her foot/feet look more exciting. This is obviously footfag art but both her feet just look kinda boring imo. I also can't tell if you're going for stylized anime feet or the somewhat-realistic-feet-on-anime-girl-body thing. Yours are kinda in between, the toes look more on the realistic side with the detail, but then that little bump on her ankles is nonexistent and the general shape of her feet seems a little more cartoony. I think this pose in particular would look a little better if her toes were more spread/flexing or if her foot was pointed more instead of just being flat.

Well there's an easy way to fix that, watch a lot of foot pov porn, and it wouldn't hurt to maybe watch a few videos on foot anatomy. I learned a lot from Vilppu's anatomy lecture on feet, how they connect to the legs, where and how the pads of the foot connect etc.

Is this meant to be a view from directly below, as in looking through a glass floor? That's sorta how it reads at the moment, like it's being pushes flat against a surface. Pretty good construction, though one small nitpick, her toes seem out of proportion. I'm just going by sight but it looks like her big toe is the right size but the other toes are all slightly too big. My usual rule is that the big toe is roughly the width of the next two toes put together(give or take some depending on the shape of the big toe). Just so you know I'm not totally full of shit I slapped together some examples. All three of these are different girls but they all roughly follow that rule, some more than others.
Oh, and her eyes are two different sizes(unsure if intentional) and her ear is hanging really low on her head.

Not sure how you're going about it right now, but breaking down the leg into basic 2 cylinders and a sphere for the knee makes foreshortening a lot easier to visualize. You should also think about more how her foot is connecting to her leg. Just remember the leg cylinder fits into an imaginary hole near the back on the side closer to the big toe(yours is a bit too far up the foot and the ankle bump is in the wrong spot). Also be more conscious of how everything is in perspective, right now her thigh is twisting away from us, her lower leg is sort of lateral to us, then her foot is somehow almost flat in our face. I know you're trying to show as much of the sole as possible but you should either be more conscious of the pose or sacrifice a bit of sole so we can accurately see the side planes of her foot and toes. Just some thoughts I had.
