ArtStudio Pro is literally one of the top drawing apps bro.

ClipStudio is a desktop app, not optimized for portable devices.

im not shitting you when i say this app feels like it has a better drawing engine than procreate

also i kinda like how it's eraser tool works, it's clean and i wish there was an option like that in actual drawing apps

How good is Clip Studio on the iPad? I'm considering getting one but I want to do comics

>> No.4707312

Art Studio, hands-down.

>Convenient Color Picking
>More Versatile tools and menus
>Folder file system for managing large projects
>intuitive video tutorials, built into app

I used to love procreate, but after getting used to Clip Studio on the desktop and Art Studio on the ipad, I can't stand drawing on procreate anymore. Especially the color picking on procreate. Buggy as hell.

I like sketchbook pro but the gesture controls are worse than procreate.

i would get it but they have decided to make it subscription ONLY for ipad, unlike on desktop and every other platform where clip studio you can buy permanently.

that is fucking bullshit, i refuse to support it and you shouldn't either. never fucking rent

Either the apple store is pressuring them to do so, or the apple store take such a huge cut past a certain price that you're better off putting your app for rent instead, I can't see why else, because even runtastic is one-tim purchase on android and is subscription-based on the apple store

artstudio but it kills your battery absurdly fast
>>4710329
procreate is more optimized desu but that's also because it's designed to stop you from doing anything that will cause it to chug

Quick question, are there any decent ipad drawing apps that let me hide my lewd work? Procreate likes to put it up front and center whenever the app is opened.

Every YouTube video I've seen of comic book artists using an iPad have been using Procreate. Marvel, DC, Image, etc, doesn't matter who they're working for, they're using Procreate.

>>4710391
I don't remember how it works exactly, but Apple takes between 15% and 30% of an app's subscription fee. It's fucking robbery and I can't believe developers put up with that. Apparently it has pissed off enough devs that both the US and EU governments are looking into Apple's practices. I hope they teach Apple a fucking lesson.

You can create folders in Procreate by dragging pictures on to other pictures. Or you can export the .procreate file and hide that somewhere.

It begs the question, why are these developers so keen to get their apps out for iOS and iPadOS when they'd be getting a far better cut on Android?

Yes, more of the market owns Apple products... but that would change if Android had better software to choose from.

because developing and supporting android is a unbelievable pain in the dick. for a small team it is literally not worth it to support two platforms when one is such a higher drain on resources.

Like >>4711767 said, Android is a mess. The same situation played out with music production apps. iOS had tons of music production apps starting from very early on in the OS's life, and the music production app ecosystem flourished over time. iOS had great support for audio and MIDI, whereas Android was a nightmare. Something that was easy to get working on iOS was a giant pain in the ass to get working on Android. That's why you see big names in the music production biz making apps for iOS, while Android has nothing.

Yes, but it has wet brushes so you can blend similar to something like CSP rather than alt+clicking repeatedly.

It also imports PS brushes more accurately than Procreate. It's a real nice app.

No Android tablet compares to an iPad Pro 12.9. Closest you get is the Galaxy Tab S line, which has a dumb aspect ratio and is smaller, but nice stylus. Or the Huewei MatePad Pro, which has a worse performing stylus.

Try it. it has a free trial. Choose the most expensive plan (like $10) a month and you get like a 6 month free trial, just don't forget to cancel it
Personally, I love it. I only use Procreate for portraits and stuff and prefer CSP since it's basically the full desktop version. I can still sync materials from the CSP Assets site, use the cloud, etc.
