I have since found the source. There's a guy on internet archive who scanned the books. The 13dl guy took the JP2.zip files and then converted them to .jpg. That is why they are okay not great quality. The original scanner put the original .tiff files and someone could derive a higher resolution cbz from them.

The question is where they getting that? There seems to be some unknown group/group scanning shit. There's a bunch of books that can be traced to what's posted on exhentai and known scanning projecs, but most of it isn't. There's some mystery third parties at work. Some of these scans look ancient and probably made by Japanese themselves like 20 years ago for storage purposes. Other scans look completely new, likely less than 5 years old.

So who's scanning this shit?

Example, this post has 30 god damn books. Some of them are gorgeous books like Falcom Bible.

The shortest is that English scanlation groups want max profit from Donator donations, so they looked for cheaper ways to get Higher quality scans. Taking public scan uploads from Perfect Dark p2p was out of the question.

The scanlation groups discovered Chinese forums/ online stores that sells high resolution Japanese magazine scans for cheapt and much cheaper Chinese scanlation of the same magazine scan. They still had no limits and tiers to who can buy what on their store. This information spread fast among scanlation groups.

Every day there were uploads of Chinese and Japanese tankos to e-hentai. E-hentai is open to everyone, and the Chinese customers of the previously mentioned forums also wanted to read magazines without paying much. High quality Artbook scans also started appearing during this time.

So traffic probably lessen on the Chinese forums, and English pirates can't shut the fuck up gloating about sources. So the Chinese managed to traced it back to e-hentai.

The Chinese started directly uploading all their older scans to e-hentai. Chinese got the great idea of putting water marks of their website and borders to their uploads to e-hentai. and their uploader comment informed that people can buy the clean scan in their website for a fee. The clean scans were much higher resolution.

Then the majority of magazine uploaded to e-hentai had borders because getting a Jap guy in Japan to scan is much expensive. It also exposed the hypocrisy of groups asking for separate donations for scanning magazines.

Of course english scanlation groups wanted more profit, they pooled their money with other groups to get a guy to buy clean raws from the chinese site. Then they upload the clean raw back to e-hentai. The Chinese groups knew this already, put more complex watermarks in their public scans, and demanding more proof when you buy stuff that there won't be no leaks of clean raws.

Despite asking for more money for clean raw, the Chinese uploaders didn't stop uploading the bordered scans to e-hentai, believing they will still get new buyers in their site.

Some English scanlation groups want more profit so they just used the Chinese bordered/watermarked uploads and CENSORED the Chinese name of the watermark. This enraged the nationalists chinese for some reason.

They started putting e-hentai and exhentai in their watermarks, and reported the site directly to Japanese companies that e-hentai is the source of all the pirated scans. Also Kantai collection doujinshi uploads became target for Chinese shit posters for some reason.

Since nything inside mainlad China is protected by the Chinese Government, so all the Japanese DMCA are ignored and not honored by China.

Japanese companies sent DMCA to all hentai website as good measure, most of hentai websites went down. My website went down. Fakku somehow got parterned with one of the Japanese companies called Wani. E-hentai was allowed to continue if they followed Wani demands of what not to upload.

Also FAKKU's newly official status, started DMCAing e-hentai for all the Wani content uploaded in the site ever since it's founding 2007. Wani apparently also prints artbooks. This enraged /h/ and prompted the new .

Then in 2018 or 2019, the country e-hentai servers where located in banned drawn pornography so they announced closing. So artbook uploaders had to increased sites to upload to, they discovered archive.org.

I'm pretty sure they are already looking for other sites, because of the recent news of Internet Archive being a target of a new lawsuit.

What would make sense is to go to /m/ places where the scanners are and make requests. There's a few on blogspot, some on /m/, and several foreigners too. There's a chinese scanner who posts to Mobile Suit League, a Chinese mecha forum. You should ask there.

This is probably a gold mind and I think we're only getting maybe 0.1% of it leaking onto the English net or japanese raw manga sites. The only reason we know about the gundam chinese scanner is because they have a nice easy to find front facing forum called Mobile Suit League. As far as pixel resources go, it's as good as it gets. It could be better, but you're not going to find anything better that collects it all in one source. Use it as a starting point and then use tutorials/methods from other artists who focus on whatever it is you're into the most to supplement.
