I like the colors a lot and there’s a strange inconsistency with the line work. The thicker particle brush looks better. You used too many filters as well too. Sometimes it’s better to stay on the simple side

Haven't done color in a long time. I have less than 10 color pieces in total. I also am not color picking a single time just to make sure I can figure this out on my own. Here is my progress in a little under 2 hours. A lot of colors are still missing but I'll get them in the next two hours probably.

been doing too many studies so I just used it more like ref. i need more contrasting values and consistent brush strokes and learn how to block in hair more consistently, but I like the colours in places

The proportions could use a lot of work. The eyes are too big and the bags underneath them are too dark. Also the left corner of the mouth is too dark making it look like a bigger impression than it actually is. Same thing with where the jaw meets the neck on the left side, it’s too dark. Also the forehead looks too small. The fabric is convincing, good job on that

On the right side of the hair where the part is too light. It should be darkened so it looks like it recedes a bit behind the face. Also the read doesn’t bother me but the hair should be grouped into more obvious value groups that describe the form. Also you should put in a fall of light. On the originals forehead there’s a gradient that gets a lot darker when it reaches the chin. It’s a pretty cool looking effect you might want to do

When doing oil portrait paintings I always tone the canvas with green. When you are building up the forms with washes, it helps to have a base that will bring in some of those off colors the skin naturally has

Probably not going to finish today, I still have too much to finish. It's coming along tho. Still havent color picked once, this is a really good exercise for me.
