Same for the kid face. It took me awhile to decipher the scenes.

In general pacing is weird and hard to understand. Maybe it will get better with text in.
But your drawing skills are not bad. Esp. the very first panel, the playground looks very lively. I can almost hear the noises :)

Id open with the widest shot of the environment so you introduce the audience with the most broad idea of the setting first. Then you can zoom in and make things more clear.

>>4659755
>>4659756
Try to create some negative space between your panels. This might sound dumb but try using a chisel tip marker for your borders. That or use some negative space in between panels. It will also give you some places to add speech bubbles. When someone enters the scene quickly or abruptly try to make their panel indicative of that like its cutting into the already existing panel in a sharp and triangular way.

>>4659796
Trippy, make her do CBT next page.

>>4660231
Try to think about what method your audience will view your comic. If its on a mobile phone the panels should be larger and speech bubbles as well. If its a large graphic novel you can get away with lots of small panels and speech bubbles.

drama, how? My main gripe with other chan-based comic servers (hyw, mangaka central) and the other non-chan based ones, is that they have an overwhelming number of members who either lurk or chat without ever creating. Making a single comic page isn't a high bar either.

Well the art is cute but the humor is for 5 year olds. Small cute character wants violent gun is level 1 stuff.

Writing is as much of a skill as art, so it couldn't hurt to work on it. It's hard to write something genuinely funny. Especially in short stories where there's little context. My tip would be to try to think of more original scenarios.

I've been working on a book for a while. It started as a cartoonish parody of corny old action movies in the vein of John Wayne, and over time it has developed into a story about the evolution of American film making scene from the perspective of an archetypal Golden Age leading man, and the central question is why are there no more actors like John Wayne and whether or not that's a bad thing.

I have pages and pages of concept art and character designs, thumbnails of key scenes. and a dozen Word documents detailing the cast, the chronology, relevant pieces of Hollywood history, etc. I'm looking over all this shit right now and checking the dates. I started this project in 2011. I just turned thirty, I've been working on this for almost a third of my life and I haven't drawn a single page.

Fuck me man I am so depressed and disappointed with myself.

worldbuilding + details can be a dangerous trap because it has no end.
Let's see some comic work! if the pressure is too high, you can start off with thumbs that you know you can easily revisit and rework later.
Or finish a lower commitment short side-story/comic related to but not THE main plot.

Recently starting chapter 2 of my comic, had fun going over chapter 1 and looking at my art progress, I've gotten better but still got a loooong way to go.

Currently working on getting better at anatomy and doing more interesting/dynamic angles for my panels.

This is about the quality of my roughs at this point in time. The final versions don't really end up too different, save for a bunch of additional shading. I keep leaving them at this point before moving on to rough the next page (I've got about 10~ pages ready at this quality), but honestly an extra hour will make these basically finalized.

Problem I always run into is flatting colors, I completely understand why american comics usually have colorist as a second job, flatting is miserable lol

Gotta up your expression game. Her face isn't portraying anything other than "flat neutral". Best bet will be to do some quick studies of all sorts of expressions, then draw your character on top of them and see if you can match it up, otherwise you end up with something akin to jojo sameface

Question for yall:

I like to add a lot of hatching to my linework before coloring, as I'm a big proponent on letting the ink be able to stand by itself. This makes putting the flat colors in really difficult. Does anyone else put hatching/shading on a different layer than your lineart so the flat stage is faster?

>> No.4678681

>>4678679
Yes?
Why would you put hatching on a different layer?
Why wouldn't you just slap everything on a different layer? Layers exist to be abused, so abuse the shit out of them bro. No rules, only tools.
This seems like the kind of thing you shouldn't really have to ask, silly billy.

Little pro tip for comics: if there's something that makes your job easier... fucking do it. Nobody's going to care if you slaved away for 2 hours painstakingly detailing some fence in the background or spent 10 minutes making a brush for it if it looks the same in the end.
