There's always been a vocal minority that have attacked her pinups featuring aged-up "underage" characters. But now they have a better excuse to tear her down for liking optically anti-BLM tweets (regardless of the point the tweet was making). Buddy where have you been. This has been the case for a few years now and it’s only gotten worse and worse and yes the vast majority of people think this way now. Likes calling anime characters “cp” get hundreds of thousands of likes. Tumblr was very effective at brainwashing an entire generation of children and now those children are getting older and spreading it to a new gen again.
If you think this is going to get any better, it won’t. If you’ve ever drawn porn you’re a target and you’ve ruined your art career. It doesn’t matter if you drew it yesterday or 20 years ago. They do not care. The world has become strangely puritan again for some reason and people are hysterical about pedophilia as some boogeyman. They even call certain characters underage regardless of if they’re actually an adult because “they are technically still a teenager”, “they are child coded”, the reach is unbelievable. Oh and of course even if you drew the most vanilla age appropriate shit, a child may see it because either A) you have children in your audience (even if you separate your accounts) or B) it’s a franchise that can appeal to kids so they might stumble on it and all of these things makes you a pedo and therefore cancelled.

This has been developing a long time and sakimichan apologising is the result of a long time of entitlement when it comes to creators online, anyone calling her a coward or bending the knee or whatever, you are oblivious to how bad things have gotten and are oversimplifying the issue but you can’t blame sakimichan for this, this isn’t a new problem and it’s the result of people staying silent when these crazies come to harass artists. I have watched this happen countless times, in January alone 3 teen artists attempted suicide and ended up in the hospital.

I don't think I ever reach the level of popularity when someone would want cancel me but even so I am afraid if it somehow happens people would shit on my art because they don't like me as a person. Saki has this happening to her right now. I don't like her art myself but ppl on social media just want any reason to hate her, so they nitpick her art.

the single thread connecting EVERY cancellation, no matter what, is it is ALWAYS based on something that the cancellee said in the past, whether it is that they like green umbrellas, hate ice cream, voted for a tax to be levied on mars, or any number of other absurd, tiresome issues with which people preoccupy themselves. i could hardly give a fuck about any one's opinions on BLM, let alone a talentless, soulless, husk of an artist like sakimi.

when i start posting my art on social media i will follow no one, talk to no one (outside of commissions or other business matters), post nothing except my images, and never reply to, like, retweet, or comment on any issue, person, event, or idea. fuck these people. i don't draw to build a community of imbeciles, i draw because i enjoy it and i enjoy making money. i can't wait to make money and be literally invulnerable as every other artist is cancelled.

Cancellation is inevitable, but also rarely fatal. Sakimi has given her non-apology, art cops will cry for a while but ultimately she'll maybe lose 10% off her patreon for a while, then people will forget and it wont matter anymore.
I've been cancelled, nothing meaningful actually happens. At worst a handful of people will yell about you for a while, -maybe- a couple whiners who can't even phone the doctors office to make an appointment on their own will send you 'threatening' messages. Don't give them attention and just wait until someone draws black panther as a white guy or something and you're clear to continue as usual.
