“Talent” is just being born with an artist’s eye (seeing objects as abstract shapes made up of light, shadow, and form). And the artist’s eye can be learned without much trouble for most people.

You might want that to be true, but it's not. "Talent" is something that's impossible to quantify, but it's a thing. Anyone can learn to use a pencil, but not everyone has the same abilities that come into play when using a pencil. We each have our own levels of creativity, innate sensibilities for color and form and narrative, and a wide, wide swath of other things that add up to being an artist.

Believe what you want, but talent does exist, and it's what separates the artists from the non-artists.

Talent exists. You can argue until you're blue in the face that it doesn't, but every painting in every museum was done by an artist with talent. Great art is not done randomly. Rembrandt didn't just 'grind loomis", and sit down and randomly stab at a canvas with a brush until something good came out. His talent is what set him apart from everyone else.
