It was actually on both a licenced version of windows 8.1 as well as licensed windows 10 after I updated it. I even did a clean reinstall of 10, thinking it could have registry errors. Some of those tablets use the same driver version as the intuos 4. On every one of those overlapping drivers from the earliest of the intuos pro up until the last release for the intuos 4, I plugged in the 2015 intuos and it didn't work, but when I plugged in the intuos 4 it worked fine. I'm pretty sure that means the drivers were working but the other tablets were busted somehow. One of them, newest intuos pro, has no jiggly USB port or anything, has never been dropped or pried open, however it refuses to recognize USB or wireless dongle connection.

That's why I think something in the new tablets just shit themselves. If the drivers work for the old tablet, why won't the newer ones recognize the connection?

Ive tried contacting Wacom about the issues I've been having with the newest intuos pro which is still under warranty, however they refuse to even adknowledge me and respond.

I'm about ready to just give up on wacom. I've recommended their products to others and bought every tablet sice my first from them for years and if they're just going to act like issues don't exist and ignore customers, then fine. Fuck them.

Real artist don't use the fucking student grade Windsor and Newton line dude, they can paint with the student grade but why they would do it? They are pros they are held to standards, I hace enough money to buy wacom, then I buy wacom, simple as that, you know why? Because my last wacom tablet was used and old and despite all that it took 5 years of daily besting non stop, while everytime I see the huion name it always comes with a "but the frame is flimsy, the pen is flimsy and not as sensitivy, the colors are....but you just have to get used to it bro" fuck that, for hobbyst and students is okay, which is what I said on my previous post, nobody forbids you to get huion if you don't have a job, or live in a place where the dollar is worth too much, but they are not "just as good bro" that is just cope, will a wacom make my work better? No rotation recognition but there's tilt so when you tilt too far, the stylus doesn't know what angle you're at and spazzes out. I guess it's technically capable of ±60° somehow but it doesn't feel like it at all because of either the driver or the hardware having a hard time. When I tilt my stylus to 60° it spazzes out and flips the brush back and forth like it can't tell if I'm tilting to the left or the right.

It's really strange. So to avoid this i have to keep from tilting the whole 60° it's supposedly capable of.

1440p not UHD
Low color accuracy in comparison.
Film, not etched glass.

That's just the immediate comparison I saw. The lower price point is great if you're starting out and definitely better than an ipad unless you want to be portable due to the screen estate, but if you're gonna be working 2-3+ hours a day, most of the week, a 2 grand investment into a proper 24 pro wacom is worth it.
Like a proper chair, 100 bucks will let you sit comfortably for an hour or so, but if you're gonna be sitting at the desk for most of the day, 800-1200 bucks for a herman miller or steelcase is nothing even if at first it may not seem that big of a difference.

>1440p not UHD
I think QHD is a decent size for 24", better than their previous line of 24" tablets at HD res (fucking gross), but it would be SO nice and crisp with a 4k. Their next big tablet release is probably going to be 4k, they've said many times that they're working on it.

>Low color accuracy in comparison.
Unfortunately with anything that isn't Wacom you have to calibrate it. I have 15.6 pro and the colors are great after using a color calibrator. The issue is usually contrast ratio with these offbrands. Mine is 800:1 and it's awful. Glad they caught up to Wacom on this model though, fucking finally they're at 1000:1 contrast. Contrast ratio is the worst thing you can fuck around with on a display and everyone's too focused on the color gamut. Speaking of the color thing, Xp-pen's new 24" is 90% Adobe RGB, wacom's 24" pro is 99% Adobe RGB, it's a negligible difference. With the color and contrast being the same it comes down to calibration. These are calibrated like ASS out of the box and I highly doubt parkablogs guy in the vid messed with that.

>Film, not etched glass.
Yeah. Sucks that it's not comfy etched glass, the only way around the shitty screen protector is to peel it off and put on a better one but who seriously is going to do that for a 24" screen?

Anyways it's definitely decent but I'm holding out for that 4k boi.

He understands pen accuracy on a much deeper level than low level shills like Brad Colbow and parkablogs, and also understands the importance of tilt functionality, which is particularly important for a high level drawing app like corel.

For what it's worth, he also shills hard for Krita. He did a video about it coming to Android, and is strongly adamant it's the best drawing app you can get on any portable device, which is unusual because most people would say iPad has the better software.

Renting a colorimeter only makes sense if yours breaks, and you need one short term. Because you don't use one, and leave it for months. You're supposed to calibrate every session, because ambient light changes throughout the day. Back when i did color correction, we calibrated at least 3 times a day, even though the studio had no sunlight and was a controlled environment.

I've never heard of camera shops renting colorimeters, but it's not impossible. It's just impractical for a beginner, and pointless unless you need your monitor calibrated for a day, like for a printing session, and you want to adjust to the printer.

Which is why you adjust your gamma. See, I knew already that you have no idea how calibration works, this just cemented it. And, if you just admitted that, we could talk more about how and why to do it, but if you're gonna pull a "Yeah, I know that, stupid" attitude when you're laughably that wrong, what other legit response is there, but "go fuck yourself"?

Adjusting the gamma doesn't make it go away you idiot there's something wrong with their screens. No matter what you do you can't fix it because they used cheap displays that get fucky at high brightness.

The screen is extremely bright anyways, at 50% you can see just fine even in full sunlight or under super bright lights.

As an XP-pen 15.6 user I can tell you its real issues:

- Tilting the pen makes the cursor go off-center, so it's hard to draw horizontal lines
- The included UBS-C splitter cable is ass easily loses video signal if you nudge it.
- The screen protector scratches easily and leaves rainbow streaks.
- The express buttons are cheap. You have to press firmly for them to register.

Overall it's still quite good and enjoyable. Of course I would like to solve those issues, but I don't think they justify spending 3000$ to fix.

Another thing to change to stop scratching the screen protector would be using a softer nib for the pen. The Surface Pro pen uses a kind of rubbery nib that gives a bit of friction on glass, probably even moreso on a matte protector. Are there any third party nibs out there for the Wacom or XP Pens?

Unfortunately, I don't think changing the screen protector on a 24" display will be easy (dust free) if they do have replacements at all.

Ive been through a wacom bamboo, huion h610, xp pen artist 15.6, xp pen deco pro, huion h610 pro V2, wacom intuous M, xp pen 15.6 Pro

After all of them, the ones I felt most comfortable with and had the fewest issues with hands down have been both Huions. Theyve all been the cheapest as well, just one commission paying the tablet back threefold.

The XP pens were alright, but had some problems here and there. I returned the display tablets due to colour inaccuracies on the displays, and the Wacom intuous M just blew donkey dick. Horrible rough nib burning surface, thin pen, couldnt get smooth diagonal cursor responses.

Fuck, lmao. I must have really struck a nerve. I wasnt aware there was so much politics infused into this topic.

Regardless of how much you bitch and moan, I have really liked my huion tablets. Deal with it, or dont and continue to cope and cry, I dont give a fuck. Im just giving a perspective. If wacom werent three times the price and had smooth surface textures Id be perfectly willing to use them, since the majority of my favourite artists use wacoms. But they all use the older models which were apparently far more smooth. And yeah I know you can buy a smooth cover for the new intuous pro, but its literally a chunk of plastic that you have to pay 50 pounds for, and quite frankly, fuck that.

>> No.4674074

>>4674029
In addition, I havent ever tried a huion display tablet. Xp pen ones always seemed to have better reviews. But even with the 15.6 pro, which btw was pretty good, there was a few really annoying colour mismatches. It seems that with display tablets you have to go all out or not at all, unless you just want to sketch or just dont care about moving pictures between displays just to colour check.

God dammit its like that eyebrowless boomer freak that does tablet reviews. The one who does videos about circumventing wacom issues with the message of "yeah its an issue to work around BUT ITS WACOM" as if its still the 90s with no other alternatives.

Listen, brand value just isnt going to cut it for me. There has to be real, tangible benefits to justify the increased price. The patents are gone. The build quality guarantee is gone. Good customer help is gone. Brand reliability isnt a factor anymore since competitors are growing fast and arent showing signs of just disappearing any time soon.

He he I can see Anon's post has sparked a controversy.

The thing is that Wacom are actually using some extra soft teflon plastics for their nibs and some sort of abrasive coating on the surface of the tablet that eventually wears out and peels too. It's basically like butter on sandpaper and it's absolutely MALICIOUS and intentional.

It's not about smooth or rough surface, it's about SOFT or HARD surface because what's going on is abrasion.

Huion and Xp-Pen all use a rough textured surface that grips the pen nibs nicely. The huge difference is that their nibs aren't made out of soft butter plastic and the surface isn't a coating, but just rough plastic so the pen nibs wear out much slower and the survace basically doesn't wear out at all. Both of my Xp-Pen tablets look the same as the day I bought them.

Meanwhile Wacom apply some kind of sandpaper coating to the plastic because they want you to buy more nibs and more tablets too.

Many folks get caught up in these tablet arguments because whilest being related to drawing, its unrelated to actual drawing ability and thus an outlet in which they feel they can confidently contribute. At the end of the day, if youre good at drawing, it doesnt matter what you use, itll turn out good. A modest cheap xp pen or huion will work just as well as the top of the line wacom tablets. It just comes down to preference, as there are differences in surface/pen qualities like this anon >>4674228

I started drawing on a Huion 610p with a loose mini usb, it was loose straight out of the box and would disconnect if you move it. The pen itself had a battery and it degraded into nothing over a year, the drivers had some paper cut issues, such as having to launch manually, for some reason the auto run doesn't work.

That was years ago though and at that time having a tablet for 60$ was a good deal, it wasn't perfect but it worked, and it paid off it's cost in comissions. I started from scratch thinking "I'll get an Intuos pro when I earn money drawing" I earned money and said fuck intuos lol, that's 350$ i could fuck a whore instead.

Today Huion don't have batteries in their pens and the drivers are better but they still use min-usb and anon in next thread has one loose.

For that sole reason I tell people to get Xp-Pen, they have USB-C. I myself rock a Deco Pro and i fucking love it, i'm not looking for upgrades, i'm set and satisfied.
Deco 01 served me for years too and I literally never had a single issue with it, I got Deco Pro just for the cool dial.
