Anyone here sleep on a Japanese style futon? I’m thinking of getting rid of my mattress to make more space in my room so I can build a personal art studio. The bed can be folded away into a closet so it sounds like a good idea but how do you like it compared to a normal bed?

I have one. It's helped my back but my issue with it is you not only have to keep track of rotating and flipping it, but you also absolutely must take it outside to sit in the sun and smack the hell out of it every week or two - otherwise it will compress and fuck your back up more than it helps it. This is fine if you're sleeping on a twin but if you've got a queen size (that's what I have unfortunately) it's a fucking venture. If you want a large bed just get two twins, lugging a big one outside is going to hurt your back more than this thing helps it. You also want to have a foam mattress topper or a tatami mat underneath it to keep it from getting dirty from the floor, and to keep it breathable under there so sweat or whatever doesn't build up underneath and cause problems.

Don't buy the cheap foam beds, they're shit and smell awful. You want the one full of cotton batting.

If you unironically think j is good than youbare hurting him more than helping him. Why?.because i was in the exact situation many years ago in highschool still. All my peers told me i can start making some sweet cash with my skill lvl but i obviously i didt want to. Not because i had absurd high standards like you tards believe j has. But because something gnaws at the back of my head about the concept of money management, the potentiality of treating art like a job and risking being mediocre for ever all to just throw it all away to earn some buck. If money is the drive then that kills the artist and i had a taste of it when i started comms last year. Id rather suffer and work on my art than to no longer be penniless and have no purpose, peace.

I'm pretty sure that some artists offer critique and mentorship for their patrons. An there are mentoring-like schools like Wats Atelier. You can also learn a lot from working with someone better on the same project - RPG challenge is great in that regard.
