All you'd have to do to participate is verify your DAD account, join a house, and submit to DAD!

i havent done much of this before but generally the website could use a re-design, maybe notification sounds (sounds irrelevant, but even a ding for someone's first visit to the site with a prompt with some pointers is effective) to make it more interactive.
the background could be a random selected piece by someone, with their name, title, etc, that auto-scrolls and sits on black background at ~30% opacity with hover/or tap interaction to view more/visit page
on the actual artwork page itself id increase visibility of comment boxes ie move to somewhere more prominent and closer to piece, an approach close to the art-station/insta layout might work.
make a bigger preview of the gallery (also interactive) right on the homepage, and give less space to the ranking ladder - i think people will be motivated and encouraged for seeing their artwork on the homepage.
and then somehow (i'm lost here) make it more attractive to leave comments, notifications for replies, comment prompts like "compliment-critique-sandwich"
