Post here your goal as an artist. Could be any kind media as long it's art (or whatever you think is art). Personally i would like to be as close to caravaggio as possible, but on LSD.

Jorge Jiminez has the perfect blend of anime and american influence, and so much energy and expression, plus rich detail without looking overworked or convoluted.
This is what I want from my art.

The goals you guys have are very far from what i expected. Mainly because they are so different from one another. Why do people even give the same basic advice on books over and over again when, for a fair amount of these, would be uneccessary work either way? I think the problem with this board must be too many people projecting.

Well the thing is there are a lot of different ways to "get there" and the path you take can directly shape your end results.
For instance, learning to do Hogarth's scribble gesture technique may lend itself to styles like >>4584830 >>4584837 and >>4584840 , but maybe not something like >>4584955 which looks more along the lines of Loomis's fun with a pencil stuff. There's no getting around the grind, but finding what clicks for you when it comes to translating 3D into a 2D image, training how you literally construct a drawing mentally, it does take different ways of explaining it and approaching it for different people to understand it and execute it. Learning to draw isn't one size fits all in that way, that's why there are lots of different ways that kind of all teach the same or similar things.

Yeah, I see what you mean there. I really hope people are looking outside of here too. There are definitely some good leads here but you pretty much gotta follow em on your own, the good stuff usually won't come to you directly here. Once in a while it's good to just google some topic you're struggling with and see if anything interesting pops up.

I've always had a hard time realizing what goal i want as an artist. I want to make illustrations like Norman Rockwell, Norman Lindsay, Frank C.Pape, claude weisbuch paintings like Jhon Geroge Brown, Franz Richard, Sargen and i also really like Euro comics but my biggest passion projects are just comfy comics about anime boys. That though used to stop me because i though that if i did one style then i wouldn't be able to do another, but now i realize that the fundamentals are all the same and the only thing that changes is how you use them.
I am very happy that i was born in a time where enjoying and finding art is so easy.

Well it shows you don't know shit about him if you didn't recognize one of his most famous paintings.
If you want to paint like Caravaggio, sit down and do a couple studies off of Caravaggio, don't just talk about it.

I understood what you were trying to say, but there's things i should improve on before starting to do specific technique studys of this level. I work usually on charcoal/graphite/watercolor, i wouldnt undestand most of what makes him a master at this point. Its a long term goal. I'll probably transition to oil sometime soon.
