Why You Should Copy Anime:
https://i.imgur.com/zNDsyF0
https://youtu.be/t_IODIIYAe0

**Strive for quantity AND quality.**

Anime Studying:
>Copy anime references exactly and draw them from memory. Use illustrations, screenshots, anime figures, 3D models, etc.
>Don’t copy recklessly. Use construction, color theory, and other fundamental concepts to rehearse a drawing process that you can later easily manipulate for original artwork.
>Post all of your anime studies. Post even when you’re told not to. Create an art community that actually draws and improves together instead of just talking about it.
>Number your attempts and link to your previous posts.
>Critiquers should lead by example by posting their studies.

General Anime Style Discussion:
>Questions about achieving certain styles/techniques/compositions etc.
>Drawing methods, study habits, resources, tutorials, tools, software, etc
>Be specific and try to post a sample of your study attempts before asking for help.

**Draw copies from good anime styled references to mindfully up our mileage, internalize appealing aesthetics, and learn from each other’s processes and knowledge.**

What kind of fundies do I have to grind before I start copying the art of this book? I only know perspective at a low /int/ level.

I started sketching this and I'm unsure about positioning the breasts/nipples.
I know that when the arm raises the pectoralis pulls the breast up, but I'm failing to transmit the feeling of heaviness when it happens or how far the nipple will rise.
I don't know if the armpit is right too.

I also decided to move the mouth slightly to the side, idk if this is the infamous sidemouth but I had the impression that it looked better than before, like the top right of the related pic.

Most of this character’s body is covered with cloth and armor, so these details will not be apparent later on, but I’m doing it now in order to practice what I see in books

you literally have what the breast should do but you're ignoring it to draw a fucking bag of sand, so it looks like shit. and the other breast looks retarded because you're hanging it like a water balloon from the clavicle. it doesn't look like it's on her chest at all.

there are other fundies issues that make no sense like where you placed the head. you didn't use the rib cage at all so it doesn't slot in. to the ribcage like a real head would and makes it look uncanny. i touched the one breast and the head placement.

almost the same shape but maybe slightly softer/rounded, pointed upwards and at least showing the pec going to under the deltoid. you're missing any subtlety of how breasts actually attach to a chest, just drawing meat buns instead.

draw whatever looks right or like the artists you want to draw, because it's just comically sized at that point and doesn't obey physics any more than it obeys what the composition or pose is. it's not real anatomy and doesn't have to be.

I used the ribcage to position the neck in the inclined cavity that is between the pit of neck and the seventh vertebra

the clavicle should be seen in this angle because it connects to the acromion otherwise it will appear that the figure has no scapula, you simply deleted it and the trapezius

about the tits, you just maded her flat
and the bag "hanging from the clavicle" is because the pectoralis starts after two thirds of the clavicle and this is the volume of it,
while the other third is where the deltoid and trapezius fit

At anon's level, the problem isn't really his anatomy or color theory but the subjects and the poses he chooses to depict. It's very plain and mundane. He can aim higher

There's only a problem if your comfort zone is a bad one. You can leave your comfort zone and try to improve at another skill and obviously you will notice a swift improvement. It will make you feel happy and you will feel like you're improving faster. However skills only start off improving really fast, you have to practice regardless of how noticeable your improvements are, when you get used to it. It's all small gains from here.

Looks like weird tumblr/disney "anime" hybrid with a nonbinary snowflake character. Your faces are flat but so are a lot of other things in the image. There's no meaningful overlaps for the legs so they look like flat contour drawings. Way too overboard on detail that doesn't need to be there like the floor. The perspective/foreshortening on the legs/couch are completely wrong so it looks like the character's left leg is a stump that's a foot shorter than the other.

By the time you poor little crablets reach my level i'll be directing my own anim* series on netflix. But don't let that get you down. After all if you're not born with TALENT or the ARTISTIC SPARK (like me) theres nothing you can do about it. So don't waste time thinking about it. It will only make you feel worse knowing no matter how hard you try you'll never be as good at anim* art as me. Just be happy that you got to share this thread with a future anim* master. Looks pretty good to me. I don't think you need to linger here too long. You should hit some board's draw threads and make deliveries. On certain boards they are very hungry for people to make good /d/'s and I think you'd make some people's day. Your style seems anime'ish, but if you don't have someone in mind who you want to emulate, it'd be better to just develop your style freely and maybe along the way try to find what your looking for in others. Drawing isn't about doing better than others, it's about making what you want to make freely.
Also, fyi, the key to shitposting is putting less effort into your response than theirs. The way you seethed, I can taste the salt and i'm not even the trying to bait you.

I think you should try getting more comfortable with your tools more than anything else. Your pen looks very jittery or the program is using a shit tool to make lines with. Either way it's something you can do while goofing off in the settings. Keep at it, it's not bad.
>>4544660
I like it, but I don't think the body and face match all that well. Maybe it's a stylization thing, but it's a bit off putting. The technique for coloring looks good though.

I'm probably gonna translate the first hitokaku book unless anyone's working on it already.

I'm always thinking, 'I want to start drawing again'.
Eh!? You used to draw but work got too busy so you stopped? Then let's start drawing. Let's start drawing again. It doesn't matter if you have no confidence because you haven't drawn in a while. Let's draw. Why not just start now? So let's draw. Let's remember the feeling of fun we had when we drew. The excitement when we drew something good, let's remember that thrill. That's right, it's also great putting on some nice music. Put on some of you're favourite music that calms you down.

Have you prepared a pencil and paper? Let's have some cake and a chocolate cornet. You say eating like that will make us fat like a pig? But eating and drinking and eating while you draw makes it fun! Have a sip of tea and let's have lots and lots of fun while we draw! So come on, let's start.

Talent has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Drawing isn't about talent but consistency. Keeping at it is the most important thing!

Actually drawthreads are great for getting requests, but it's actually very nice to go skipping from thread to thread and if you think of something nice draw it for the thread. Something like going to a tomboy thread on /a/ and some Anon mentions how awesome brown, milf tomboys are and then you drop a drawing of a brown milf tomboy for him. look at real women and tits of all sizes. there's a plane change around the 3rd rib from breast to chest/ribcage which usually catches highlights because it's flat, pic related shows what i mean sorta. they don't look like they're attached to the collarbone. and the pec/breast doesn't attach like in the original posters image which is just wrong, the pec only attaches for the first half to two thirds of the collarbone and then you get the infraclavicular fossa. the anatomy for sculptors book isn't the best reference to learn from because it shows a wireframe like you're building a 3d model for sculpting and not what's really happening. so you get some artifacts that don't match up to real life but work for 3d modeling.

hey, sorry for the late reply. i remember starting off with loomis to get basic proportions and construction down. i moved on to hogarth and pin2d, but i can't say that i recommend either, save for their lessons on drapery. watched a good chunk of proko's anatomy videos. as much as this board likes to shit on him (which i personally think is unjustified), he's a really good resource. though, i saw the biggest gains when i bought bridgman's 5th ed. i never see any conversation about it on this board. it's dense, but the info is gold. the book takes a deep dive into just about everything regarding anatomy. definitely an underrated gem.
but but but, what resources you choose to study shouldn't be your main concern. how you study them should.
now i don't mean 'draw everyday', that's a given. what i do mean is to think about what you're taking in. 'why did does this look right?", 'how would x draw this?', 'what steps did they take to achieve this?', that sorta stuff.
