main issue I see immediately is that even though she is chained, none of the chains are taut, so it doesnt give any impression that she is hanging, esp coupled with how she's seemingly comfortably lounging.

A lot is messed up with her lower body, my edit couldnt do too much. Your shading is very muddy, values are incredibly messy so it's not clear where light if coming from.

Look at references when youre drawing, your issue is where body parts connect. The shoulders are completely imagined, her entire bottom half is shifted to her right side, and it seems if she were to stand normally her vagina would be in front of her rather than in the center of her body.

On contradiction I see on the picture is that you wish to show both the ass, dick and the vagina however the dick us obscured because thi is is a back shot. So the light is coming in a bit strangely.

In these cases you could add a secondary light source with a complementary color (here I used blue since she has red skin) to make the shapes of the obscured parts appear clearer.

Is lineart really worth it bros?
I like lineart but my god, sometimes it is such a chore. I'm trying to make a design reference for this character, but goddamn I swear it'd be so much easier to just PAINT most of these details. However, this is my style, and I really don't want to have to change it? Perhaps I should try lining with something that's not incredibly thin, I'm not sure.

Do any of you struggle with lineart? Do you prefer painting to avoid it? Any critique?

Here's the rundown:
really good work, cute oni girl, everything thumbnails well, the problems start being apparent upclose
>hips to top of the tits are perfect, if I'm picky right nipple could use slight polishing.
>shoulders are more or less fine anatomically, but need a little closer attention to some hard and soft edges, same thing goes to the hands, you went a bit too willy nilly in some places, that pink edge all around hurts the depth a bit too
>pussy looks decent, but a bit too cartooney, could use some work
>that whole crotch region is too dark and rather messy, you tried to go too far while trying to carve it in. you need to bright it back up and only use the really dark tones in the most deep crevices (ambient occlusion)
>her left leg looks great, some things could have been done better but that would improve with conscoius practice
>her right leg is a bit strange, there are a couple way to go about a fix for it, but the part that makes the least sense for me is the dark tones on the top. Don't just put that tone there for no reason, that's how you get pillow shading, the light comes from the top, there's no reason why there should be a dark streak at the top of her leg.

For the things you mentioned you can try to block off the colors with 2 shade cel shade first, and then use the soft brush to define the hard and soft edges, then go in with some darks in the deepest crevices.
As for shadow hue variations, japanese pretty often use blending modes.If you draw the shadow on a layer above you could put it on a blending mode that not only makes the color of the shadow nice, but actually effects how the color gradates into one another in a very colorful appealing way. It's one of the ways they make their works pop a lot.
As for exposure starting with a simple 2 shade cel shade would help a lot, since it's easy to keep highlighting until you are at too dark or too light. I also think getting a midtone instead of black or even white.
For linesize I guess you can keep track on which size you went for, put it on a preset.
Last tip for the line, often they would use colored lines, which helps the colors pop even more.

Looks pretty solid, but there are a couple of little thing that kinda spoil it. Are you going to use the empty space below the bubble and behind the bearded dude inside the bubble for anything? It looks very, very empty right now. Also, not all parts of the armor have received an equal amount of loving — the tubes on both armors in the bubble, for instance.

For a time you might want to consider constructing your heads (and the rest of your figures as well) a bit more carefully — as 3D objects, with boxes and tubes, not circles and sticks. That way it'll be easier to avoid misplacing features.

I'm aware one of the eyes is wrong and that one of the hands its too small. Yet this feels fundamentally wrong. How do I fix it?

The eyes aren't perfectly symmetrical but I think they look totally fine anyway, I wouldn't change them. The arm she's leaning on looks wrong though. Her torso is too straight and her shoulder is too high to match having her elbow on her knee. Personally I would change it so that arm is raised, has her hand resting on the knee, and the elbow bent out to the side.

i like this and it's going in a good direction,
the main thing that strikes me right away that i think could improve it is the plane she's laying on is a little unclear looking from her upper and lower body.
from the pelvis to the legs i feel like im looking directly up, but the torso is almost at straight on, much higher viewpoint which results in a disconnect.
lastly her arm looks a little awkward cos of the angle of the hand being dead-on side

look at the how her back is laying flat on the floor, her left (our right) breast shbould be much further around her body away from the viewer, and the other breast should be sagging away too. right now it's as if something is holding it up.
The breast being further round also shows her shoulder that is further away from us should be higher up.
