You have to learn at least the basic anatomy and what the parts are and how they fit together, and you have to think about the torso in terms of those parts. You can certainly simplify the parts themselves, an egg for the torso, a box or bucket for the pelvis, whatever floats your boat. But you still have to be thinking in terms of the parts.

In the same boat as you anon, what helped me was understanding the basic bone structure of the hips. From the bottom of the spinal cord connecting to the hips from the back, and the thigh bones connecting to the hip bones. It didn't take a lot of "studying" and practice to see quantitative gains. I mostly just looked at bones and drew them once and I could tell a difference in my sketches. Good luck friendo.

For me it's not even that I "lose faith" in it or anything, I just hate the monotony of inking and always find myself disliking the end result. I need to either figure out how to ink super quick and roughly or just to figure out how to make the pencil nice enough to be considered "finished".

Did some of this muscle study on top of the reference, then dragged it over and tried to refine it. Trying to see things in shapes and forms and get out of symbol drawing. Feel like it helped.
