Pic related left is my main takeaway. There's hardly any contrast in the image. My eyes want to stay looking at her face and the pokemon or bottom left by the boot, leg, and pokeball. The focus is clearly the stomach/shorts but the brightness and saturation repels the eyes from there. There's no contrast to pick up on that draws the eye.

Pic right shows the dangers of overstating the midtones. There is some decent stuff going on underneath but she loves exposing and rendering everything to the point there are no shapes whatsoever. Most peoples' monitors are too bright, in actuality. I do print stuff and mine is calibrated to 2.2 srgb, and sometimes I forget to set it back to "pleb mode" when exchanging stuff with normal people.

I love going around fixing peoples' images unprompted, and when they start bitching about it being too bright, I give myself a slight chuckle, because they've revealed themselves to be a pleb with an uncalibrated consumer level display. Then I take out my Datacolor Spyder5 Pro, and calibrate my monitor again, because the sun has passed to the other side of the house, changing the ambient light. I told my mom I want the room with the northern facing windows, but that fucking bitch gave it to my sister instead even though she doesn't even do graphic design, the dumb whore's studying sociology lmao

Not hard getting a smooth freehand lasso line, but it never comes the exact way you want. Making vector selections would solve that, but it's so cumbersome

if you draw big enough it doesn't fucking matter because you get anti-aliasing when you resize down for output. you can set anti-aliasing on lassos/selections.

The only issue I have with it is the stomach shadow. I also think the image benefits from removing detail. I think they photobash? That's fine but it can be distracting since images are full of information. Basically everything behind her should have no detail. I also think they might zoom in when painting because the details feel like they have a consistency issue. I only did one leg to show how I'd change color personally I paint harder but I assume they'd wanna keep it soft. Lighting doesn't seem entirely consisten and I'm not sure where main light is coming from. Behind them? It isn't quite consistent.

I would say its primary issue is exess of detail. Compare its background to something in a Sargent painting. I think paintings with a bit of impressionism work best but that's also personal flair. Then again they also are pretty popular so they must be doing something right because they're making it work for them.
