It's generating waifus based on an algorithm, but anime has fucky proportions and sometimes it spits out weird shit.

It uses an artificial neural network. It learns from many examples of anime and tries to imitate it. It does not really understand what it is doing, so it has an imperfect understanding of how to make an anime face. Basically, it is /asg/.

As always, I like when someone takes a messed up one and runs with it. Nice anime lines. The messed up part of the shirt is quite messy, you should have simplified it so you wouldn't have such a hard time--make your job easier.

Good on you for showing us your process of getting used to the design. I'm a fan of the fuzzypants pose, and the coffee mug drawing's face. The sitting pose has energy, but it's kind of misplaced. In the attached image I show how just some repetition and regular direction of the limbs and such, makes a pose easier to read--and therefore more pleasing to look at. Hope this helps.

It's clear you're not really a beginner, so I need to go in depth for you here.
I enjoy how clean your lines are, but your colors are a bit washed-out. Your poses are nice, but there's... sort of a lack of character still, somehow. For example, when you look at the original generated images, the faces convey more emotion than your drawings' faces do. Your hands are fairly solid, and your bottom clothes are nice, though you put noticeably less details in the torsos (for better or for worse). What would likely help you the most, is your color choices. As a rule of thumb, if your base color is warm, you go: 1) cooler, 2) darker, and 3) less saturated for the shadows.The same is true for cool colors, but their shadows go warmer instead of cooler.
Attached is something that should help solidify these ideas.

i like making my expressions more subdued, i guess, but i agree they could have been a bit more lively

Nice, hope you keep going, look forward to seeing how you improve if I see you around. I mean if you really hate color you could always just go the Kim Jung Gi route, but I get a feeling you have some preference for color and want to improve.
Don't worry, my proportions are not good either. I'm going to stop eyeballing it for a month or two and see how that goes. Will be measuring out more, using "heads" as some have recommended.
I think I've personally spent just 1-1.5 months worth of days (over the course of 10 years) where I learned and focused on color theory. A lot of it is really just values. The rest is shifting the hue slightly, as you have now seen.
