In my opinion you're oversimplifying it too much, this is only necessary if you're burne hogarth. If it was me I would do a more simplified method like the face for example you can just draw a small sphere instead, so instead of thinking of it as many shapes think of it as fewer shapes a good method to get better at that is to study peter hans dynamic sketching, and within time you will be more confident with your shapes.

For your homework you should see Terryl whitlatch's construction method (witch is good for animal drawings and teaching you the basics/more complex features of animal anatomy) she has a good schoolism course

and peter hans dynamic sketching for shapes/volume/wireframe/ (you can find a
demo free on youtube just look it up.

as well as some perspective. just the basics like how ellipses look under the horizon line vs over horizon line

Keep in mind that this is just how I like to construct things, and that it may not be for you. Happy drawing

Ironic that you are trying to teach OP but his construction/drawing is better than yours in almost every way. The face on yours is particularly bad, also is the sketch in the top right supposed to resemble Proko's fetus abortion because that is what it looks like.
Be more mindful of your proportions, the muzzle is too small, the root of the tail is ridiculously big it's a mustelid not a crocodile it should not be anywhere near the circumference of its body.
The concept of breaking the body down into individual parts is fine but you have connected them poorly, it does not have good gestural flow, instead of graceful flowing lines yours more resembles a string of sausages.
The perspective is also poor, you have added a ground plane but you haven't placed the character on it properly.

I know most people would take criticism like this negatively and say "pyw" or "go fuck yourself" or something like that, but I genuinely appreciate getting feedback on my drawings even negative ones, as i'm always finding ways to improve. Thank you for the feedback.

I will try to improve on my perspective and be more mindful of how I draw noses/tails in the future.

If you're going to do construction on an animal, at least reference the actual meat and bones instead of the fur that tells you nothing about what's happening underneath.

Seeing as you took the critique well and I could have been a lot nicer in the way I delivered it, I am posting my attempt. I don't really construct much though, I prefer to block out shapes with the digital equivalent of colour washes and then add line art on top of that. I mainly focus on gesture and flow, lost and found lines are also important especially if you are drawing something that is covered in fur.
