God, why is it always that the people who think modern anime is all "moeshit" know jack shit about the medium?
It's like they saw 3 90/80s OVAs and Akira so now they have taste and know everything anime has to offer.

There's no singular anime style, design trends have come, gone, and stayed with every passing year. Not to mention that artists often carry their own specific flavor of character design.

Might be slightly off-topic, but what's the name of pic related's style called? I've only seen it used in the Flowers of Evil anime (not the manga version).
Are there any similar styles where the characters look like actual Japanese people?

Most people who start ZZ right after finishing Zeta genuinely struggle to get through the first half since it's too lighthearted (feels like filler for CCA?).
