I guess that's your main problem. Drawing from life is great, keep it on, but sometimes we need some advice on stuff we can't get to notice, like construction and proportions, you know, book's stuff.
You don't have to follow trough them religiously, tho. I hadn't done that, just read them swiftly and understand the basics of them all

IMO it's much easier to tackle values and colours separately. Draw your character in a greyscale and when you're happy with it add colours.
But the best way to understand colours and paint would be by following a good tutorial; Sam Nielson have an excellent workshop about lighting or you could check out ctrl+paint which is free (mostly).

Silhouette of center cat feels off, it gives the illusion that the cat is standing on 2 legs with no arms. Maybe giving center cat a slight angle to the pose or a prop for the front leg to stand on could better communicate the confident pose. Gray cat's right leg looks to much to the right, back legs also feel off and jumbled together. Spotlight light source isn't very strong could show more drama/contrast, give strong shadow underneath. What is the focal point? Guide the viewers eyes there by showing what's important.

It looks like you are already on the right track. If you want to improve the life like qualities and create more conversational gesture with hands then practice aligning shapes for a simplistic form blocking practice. Basically a single polygon for the palm and each digit. Next is shadow which you have a great head start on. The mind creates the illusion of lines. So I would love to dive into a critique but I’m not sure what the goal if this is. You have the fundamental grasp of form but looking at this I know that you can do more than what’s in this image. Take some time and see if you can create a completed image (assuming you are going for realism) and smooth out gradients between shadow and light.

For a quick sketch it looks nice. You were able to capture forms that follow correct portions and forms of the body as well as conveying a presence of the model through the image. Definitely something to be happy with, now show me something where you pushed yourself.

Got several queries with this. Can anyone check the colours on this? I'm r/g colourblind so i purposefully centred around purple/red instead of red/yellow, but still better double check. Also is the perpective on boar guy noticably bad? i know the shoulder dropping should have the hip out and he's looking up and it gets worse everythime i look at it. And lastly, should I add highlights? It might make the mountains stand out a bit more, but I feel like the surface wont lend itself to shiny highlights.

Do yourself a favor and stop drawing warrior cats while you still can. I've seen communities full of people who draw nothing but these cartoon cats and they all stagnate as artists. All they can do is repeat the same symbol drawings and not one of them knows a thing about real cat anatomy. When one of them tries to draw something outside of their comfort zone like a human face, it's painfully obvious that they don't know how to draw anything but cartoon cats. do you need a strong CPU when using a tablet or drawing on photoshop or other programs? Was thinking of buying a ryzen 3600 and was wondering if it’d suffice for drawing digitally on programs or pads/tablets.

not really, you just need a decent cpu but the most important thing you need is RAM.
The bigger your drawing is the more ram it will take and if you have a shitty ram don't be surprised if the whole thing freezes after you cross the brush

download the software that it comes with
draw a picture every day, try out different styles, play around with the tools, use references for pictures, etc.
use different layers for outlines, colors, glow, shadows,
use the blend tool, blend shades on the color layer to give your forms realistic depth
on the layers panel, play around with the transparency mode (drop down menu that says "normal" by default). outlines and shadows should be set to "multiply", glows should be "add glow" or "vivid light" (but play around with it until you get something that works).
I've had my tablet for a week, but have been using adobe illustrator for years with a mouse.

here's a piece I did the other day. Keep in mind that I've only had my tablet for a week and haven't sat down to draw pictures in years. Let me know what y'all think
