I like looking at images of sexy anime girls but when it comes to drawing them I just can't muster anything. Doesn't help my motivation that there's already thousands of pictures of readily available hentai for instant viewing. The high supply makes it a lot easier to consume that content than create it. I don't understand how people can manage to count calories.
I try it from time to time when I want to lose some weight but I either fall off the edge or get too preoccupied counting everything. I went near bulimic in high school because of how obsessive I'd get counting.
Intermittent fasting on the other hand, I lost ~7lbs (I'm normal weight, just wanted to lose a small amt) over the last few months doing it and felt like I'm not doing anything differently, just skip breakfast and eat how I normally would starting at 2pm. After a week or so you're not even hungry, you actually feel like you have more energy.

I've got like a dozen artists at least on my board and over 50 images. I also did write-ups analyzing the qualities of each category. I think it's helped to clear up a lot of my confusion about what I want to create.

It’s my turn to meltdown. I’m lonely, cold, sad, and I can’t draw and I’m losing the momentum that was pushing me forward to improve. I’ll keep drawing but the past few days it’s started to feel more like a chore. But at the same time, it’s the only thing I want to put my time into at the moment. It’s extremely difficult but it feels so much more approachable and promising than everything else. I don’t even feel like taking a break because nothing else seems worth doing right now. I have a whole backlog of games and books and films I wanted to play/read/watch but now I don’t even feel like doing that. What do I do?

I was feeling that way just recently, and strangely enough taking some extra supplements seems to be bringing me back out of my funk. I started doing 50mg zinc, 100mg magnesium (chelated), and 5,000 to 10,000 IU vitamin D. You might want to also add general B vitamins just in case.

I know it's probably not the reply that you wanted, but you should make sure that your body is getting what it needs. Supplements are probably the easiest place to begin in terms of addressing physical issues. Vitamins are by no means perfect, but single-component vitamins are generally better than a multi-vit and if you've got deficiencies they're way better than continuing to miss vital chemicals.

Aside from that I'd suggest going for walks and just thinking. Think about what you want to draw or look for weird shit outside to sketch. Spend some time looking for inspiration sources online. Go back to some old favorites and bask in nostalgia for a while. Eat a good meal. Just take care of yourself and try to remember what made you want to draw in the first place.

My submission frequency is less than daily. I feel like dailies submit whatever they drew to maintain their streak, and meanwhile when I submit it needs to be something worthwhile, whether that entails a polished piece or studies to "prove" that I'm working on improving. Yes, dad isn't a gallery, but the fact that I have some sort of audience that will judge me, whether implicit or explicit (tier lists...), definitely motivates me to work harder and smarter. So I'm glad for that.

I'm daily and I think dad has made me improve. I've made more pieces I am proud of during my ~9 months on dad than any year before. I think this is partially just because of my mindset, I dislike having nothing but mediocre sketches and half-assed pieces on display, and looking at my dad submissions gives me a very clear view of how hard I am working, so I feel persuaded to make more good art so my submissions don't look ugly. The community is also very encouraging, being around like-minded people who also want to improve is very motivating, especially since there are less crabs than the rest of ic, and more people willing to give good-faith criticism.

Like others have said, posting on DAD has definitely made me work harder just because I know people are going to see it. It's nice having that additional motivator because I'm not on social media. I just wish the threads were more helpful instead of being 40% pee poo gay furry or coomer talk (I want to suck X's dick!). I’m definitely someone who doesn’t care about posting unfinished work or off days... so posting finished work is never really a motivator, although I definitely try to at least post something half decent. We recently got bought out from corporate so that’s either good or bad. The first email we got on the 4th of March concerning COVID made reference to the flu killing X amount of people so, I’m guessing they’re just going to keep feeding us shit information to persuade us it’s safe to keep working.
I work at a vet and they told us to “limit contact with patients as much as possible”. It’s a joke, handling patients is literally my job. If you imagine pets as property, I am literally hugging (as in restraining) their unwashed property all day.

We are a smallish GP that allows ER visits but any critical/serious cases get transferred to the larger 24 hour ER nearby, so like 75% of our visits are just for annuals/vaccines/dental cleanings/spays+neuters.
We definitely could close and only see urgent patients, refer everyone else to ER if it's critical, tell people to postpone elective procedures/annuals... it would be a huge loss to the clinic since we are already struggling, but with the recent corporate buy out, they hopefully have things in place to cover our asses.
But yeah, I'm imagining the 24 hour ERs is getting slammed because I'm sure there's other GPs that are closing.
