I have a little doubt, when you do gesture you are suppose the get not the contour but instead the flow of the post in few lines as possible, right?. I get that.

Then I figure out that in some poses I actually need to vaguely draw the countour as part of the gesture in order to find out the shape or the rhythm. Is not drawing countor bad?, I'm doing it wrong?

Try using less colors, 80 to 100% opacity brush, under paint the entire canvas like in traditional mostly because I'm seeing white spots, I don't know about the reference but making shadows just by straight making it blacker isn't a good way to go since bounce light happens everywhere and the shadow will take a little of the colors surrounding it.

My sketchbooks are full of aimless grinding. I feel like I need to really push myself and drill down into a sketch and try and push it beyond my current ability if I want to improve. But there was also like a 3 month period that I dedicated exclusively trying to render two pieces and was endlessly changing details trying to make them perfect and I don't feel like I learned very much during that period, because I basically stopped exposing myself to reference material altogether and I got really laser focused on a small number of problems.
My current plan is to try and combine the best of both approaches. I want to always have some sort of longer-term project that I work on at least a little each day, and this will be where I really drill hard and try to make something look good, but only up to a certain point. There is a point where you hit diminishing returns and it's better to just move on to something new. While these projects are going on I'll also mix in daily figure drawing from reference, studies of other artists, random little doodles from imagination, etc, to keep building my visual library and to keep myself sketching.
This advice is COMPLETELY untested, I am a shitty /beg/, ymmv, etc.

Take other reference, start a new project do the same thing and once you did this with 3 or 4 project go back to the first project and see if you can improve it with the thing you studied earlier, do your best move to the 2nd project in a circle way.

Unfortunately there's a shitton of stuff that you just have to figure out for yourself in the beginning through grinding. You need to achieve a certain baseline level in order to have a foundation to work off of.
Where are you exactly? Are you able to take a reference and copy it at least somewhat? Can you "feel the form"? Have you done the wrapping lines exercise on drawabox? Wrapping lines are really critical for thinking in 3D.

You probably just need to start grinding. Just draw, draw from reference, draw from imagination, it doesn't matter, just keep drawing. It took me hundreds of hours to go from where you are now to "ok, I'm ready to start learning now". You will naturally get better at copying references the more you draw.

Keep going, friend! I agree with the other guy saying you should try copying existing pictures for now. I would also add that you need to get comfortable with drawing more confident lines and circles, because yours look a bit shaky right now. Look up Lesson 1 on drawabox and do the homework from there. You might think those exercises are boring, but drawing loads of lines and ellipses will help you develop a solid foundation. It can be frustrating trying to learn how to construct heads when your lines and circles don't turn out the way you want them to. Good luck, you got this!
