It wasn't always an activity at all before
I started from 0 and tried for a year or so many years ago, tried copying anime panels and stuff, went to digital pretty quick and quit when I got a job at walmart because I felt my art wasnt going anywhere because it wasnt. I refused to study real life or put in real practice, I'd just try drawing bodies without understanding anything

I'd much rather forget that time because it was wasted time. My anatomy always looked like pic related years ago, and it returned to look like this when I started again last year. All those wasted months did for me was help me learn paint tool sai a bit. I even moved onto csp last november
So to be completely honest
1 year or so of trying and learning nothing > quit for 5 years > returned to get gains for real with new mindset

Really love your style. Though I feel it's just begging for some subtle textures & overlays slapped on the whole finished illustration. I do a lot more 2 minute figure drawings and try to draw my framework for my sketches in 2 minutes so I don't overanalyze the pose and that makes it end up more natural.

Also another way my art has improved is I try to have defined silhouettes for my poses!

Yet you've been taking this approach for three years without any real change in your drawing skills. Nobody is telling you not to render your pictures. We're saying rendered turds are still turds. If you wanna make better art, get better at drawing not rendering.

I've never drawn or studied, only read tons of comics and manga and watched videos about drawing and I am able to draw better anatomy, better lines, color and shades. I've only recently started to take things seriously and learn to fasten my workflow. Don't take this as a brag but a tip, you don't need to draw for years to get better, the most important part is to internalize and understand the concepts on how to draw, if you draw while listening to music or a podcast, this could have major hindrance on your learning, focusing 100% onto the thing you're drawing and imprinting the whole process to your head, your learning will skyrocket.

When I went to school I met this guy who had started drawing from the scratch, through one single year he went full autism mode on learning how to digitally paint, when we came across each other in school, we hit it off with our interest in video games, computer hardware and drawing, and holy fucking shit was he good at drawing, his digital painting skills were professional level only after 1 year of hardcore learning, his drawing process would take very little time to come up with something great but the polishing part could easily sink in days for a finished piece and it would elevate the drawings to masterful levels, he mainly explained that when drawing he wouldn't allow distractions near him and only focused on the drawing
he perfectly understood values, light sources and such and his only weakness was anatomy and I would often times help him with my understanding of anatomy, since I'm more focused on lineart than digital painting, we'd criticize each other's works, help each other to improve and feed off of each others strengths

but ignore the blogposting parts, read between the lines, you have much room to improve

That's an oddly long post directed at me considering how many others are here with various levels of progression.
I get that people are able to learn better and faster than me in the same time or less, but that doesn't really help my case at all. There are things I've been trying to wrap my head around daily, I even mentioned some of the stuff there. It'd be a miracle if I were able to practice something and have it stick in an instant. I do neglect mundane exercises like drawing a head 30 times on paper which hurts my learning so that's the price I pay for not following through 100% with the grind. Again, that was a very long and odd post. I would've appreciated if you posted your progression as well, that being the purpose of this thread of course. You can see two of my works above
>you have much room to improve
Believe me, I'm very aware. I see my flaws every time I finish a piece. I hope you weren't under the impression that I think I'm near a skilled artist's level

You should find a friend with equal or better skills at drawing and teach each other, critique each other's work and such, it's very helpful when you can get honest opinions on something and being able to critique someone's work unhinged, has helped me and my friend a lot
also it motivates you to draw more

You could sell 4/6 postcards for $5 and 11x17 posters for $12 and make a deal if they buy 2 that they get them for $20, these are pretty common AA prices.
I think that your art style would look best on small to medium instead of large poster prints because the details in your work look better zoomed out than they would if you made them too giant.
I am not very good at pricing originals, especially with a full background if it is traditional art. I am a lot better with pricing digital non-physical art so I can't really say how much the original would be.
Good luck anon and I hope you make a lot more cool things and keep pushing!
Do you have a blog I could follow?
