How many of you bros and babes use Procreate? Well, I do, and I fucking love it. If you love it too, here are a bunch of premium (paid) Procreate brushes I'm going to share with you. I acquired some of these brush sets thanks to some fellow anons, so big thanks to them.

I've zipped some of these sets to make them easier to download, especially if you download them from your iOS/iPadOS device.

Enjoy!

this doesn't have to do with brushes, but i found someone selling a ipad 2018 and te ipencil 1 for a very cheap price, is it worth it? i know it's not an ipad pro or the ipencil 2, but i guess that's good enough for me.

>> No.4382056

>>4382044
I use the 2018 iPad and the 1st gen Pencil. It's definitely good enough, especially if you're just getting started or just want to try it out. The first gen Pencil functions exactly the same as the 2nd gen Pencil, minus the wireless charging. The 9.7" screen isn't particularly cramped in my opinion.

About the only limitation you'll run into is if you're with large canvas sizes at 300+ DPI. You'll be limited in the number of layers you can use. As long as you're not trying to create complex, poster sized artworks meant for print, you'll be fine there.

>> No.4382337

>>4382044
My friend sold me the same model recently for super cheap and it's become my everyday drawing tool. One issue the anon above me didn't mention is that there's a lil parallax when looking at the screen at an angle so doing tight inks doesn't feel as natural as pen+paper but looking from straight on you don't notice it. Having procreate is a huge plus, the speed of drawing and rotating the canvas is significantly above a pc program. If you're getting the ipad for < the price of a cheap huion monitor I would buy it.

I do try to find the brushes requested in this thread, but the reality is, there's not a lot out there, and strangely enough, what *is* out there tends to be less popular/requested brush sets. I'm not really sure why this is, since the popular brush sets are rarely more expensive than lesser known ones.

You also have to contend with the fact that quite a few brush sets have recently been updated to work better with the new brush engine in Procreate 5. So while you might find a brush set for download, it might be an older version.

>> No.4394174

>>4394010
What are the most popular/requested brush sets?

>> No.4394214

>>4394174
Take a look at the thread. The MaxPack sets are, by far, the most popular and requested, and those have been made available. Practically anything else that gets requested isn't out there yet.

It's probably because, despite being the most popular art app for iPad, Procreate obviously doesn't have anywhere near the popularity of stuff like Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint, therefore you're not going to see the same number of premium Procreate brush sets available at the usual places you acquire premium brushes for Photoshop or CSP.

So far, other than /ic/, the best resources for premium Procreate brushes I've found are these 2 links:

https://pastebin.com/77Liz56F

I've seen a lot of iPad art YouTubers that use the Paperlike on their iPads. How is it really? The regular iPad's screen makes a very noticeable tapping sound when the Apple Pencil hits it, whereas with the iPad Pro it's not as loud. Does the Paperlike make the tapping on the iPad less noticeable?

>>4439119
No problem bud. I'm a man, and I like sharing stuff, especially if it means it helps get people's creative juices flowing. Also, threads like this inevitably attract other anons who have other brushes to share, and I might end up acquiring something I want. I really want those Dead Subtle brushes!

Also, if anyone has the latest update of the COPICat marker brush set by Bardot, I'd like that too. Apparently the updated brush engine in Procreate 5 made the older COPICat brushes not work properly, so she released an update back in December to make them work properly in Procreate 5. If anyone has that latest update, please share it!

>>4439866
I really like it, mostly for the texture and the way it sort of softens the colors and makes the screen matte. It softens the sound of the pencil hitting the screen a little bit but it also adds a sound when you draw, as actual paper would. It makes the screen more like a cintiq (or any wacom tablet ftm)

>> No.4439890

>>4439877
I might have to look into getting one. I've never used a screen protector on any of my iPads before, and the tapping sound isn't really a problem since I'm usually listening to music when I draw, but having a more paperlike texture would be nice to have.

>How is it really?
I use the Bellemond one. It dulls the sound a bit on the standard iPad yes, it's still noticeable but I find it to be less aggravating than without. I personally don't mind it.

The biggest factor would be the screen not being laminated and thus having a gap. Since I never owned any better iPad, I don't mind it. If you look at straight at the screen when draw (which you should be doing), it's not noticeable.
With that said, I imagine that the day I get one with a laminated screen, it'll be hard to go back to the standard iPad.

You could save money and go for the iPad Air 3 instead, but it's not worth the money :
- only 3GB of RAM just like the 10.2" iPad = same amount of layers in Procreate; better CPU irrelevant in Procreate (my 10.2" never lags)
- comes with seemingly unavoidable hardware issues just like the Pro 10.5" had, meaning you have to expect having to deal with customer services in the future
So 200$ more just to remove the gap is not worth it. Better save and invest in a Pro.

Procreate gains in popularity every month, but there are still plenty of paid brushes that still haven't been shared/pirated. There's very little rhyme or reason to what does and doesn't get shared. Coming from a traditional background (graphite/charcoal), the amount of brushes available is overwhelming to me. It might be a stupid question but... do digital artists just try a lot of things over and over until they find stuff they like? I can imagine myself spending my whole life doing this.

>> No.4463243

I used traditional media for decades, but made the switch to digital in recent years. I'm always trying out new brushes, but digital artists tend to eventually settle on a certain number of brushes they end up really liking, and those end up being their go-to brushes. Those can be brushes that came default with whatever software they use, or brushes made by other people, or brushes they made themselves once they learned how to change brush settings. Some brushes I use are default brushes or brushes that were made by others, but I changed some settings to suit my needs better.

But yeah, brush hoarding is definitely a thing for some people. I'm always trying out new brushes "just because."

Well, the various MaxPacks by Max Ulichney are well-liked for being legitimately great. I like a lot of his brushes. The watercolors are surprisingly realistic.

Frankentoon makes great brushes too. Their Squid set for inks is really nice, and their Nautika and Aqua sets are nice for wet media. Some good watercolor alternatives if the watercolor MaxPack is too overwhelming.

For grit and texture, anything but True Grit Texture Supply. That guy makes a bunch of excellent stuff and it's great for adding some character to your art.

There are a bunch of brushes I need to try that I've acquired from this thread. Maybe I'll find some new favorites. That's why I like trying new brushes.

Here's something I've been wondering: Are there Photoshop brushes that anyone's imported into Procreate and found to work really well within the app? I've never used Photoshop to draw/paint, so I'm not sure how its brush system compares to Procreate 5's updated brush system.

If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it, because I'm sure there are some great Photoshop brushes out there.

Anyone know some really good procreate brushes that feel like conte pencils? I've tried so many and the best I've found is the MaxPack 600 Series Pencil, but I feel like a one trick pony because I use this pencil for 99% of everything I do.

>I feel like a one trick pony because I use this pencil for 99% of everything I do
Why? For thousands of years, artists used whatever was available to them, and many used the same tool set for all of their work. If you're satisfied with how your artwork is turning out, why care if you're using the same pencil for all of it?

can anyone please tell me how to completely disable tilt on a brush so that it draws on the side the same as the time? I'm completely dependent on drawing underhand/overhand so I'm never using the tip and 90% of pencil brushes just force me to always draw in that side of the pencil shading mode.

I think it must be possible because pen brushes work the same on the side as on the tip, but I can't find which setting does this

A lot of the default brushes have been around since the beginning and their age is showing, but Procreate 5 introduced some new brushes that are pretty damn nice.

There's a sketch pencil brush in the Insecto Nomad set from Frankentoon here:

You sound kind of picky. Some of the new default pencils in Procreate 5 are great, and the pencils in the MaxPacks are well liked. Maybe find a pencil that's close to what you're looking for and then customize it in the brush settings. You can turn off tilt features and whatnot there.

No, not at all. The new brush engine in Procreate 5, for example, allows for the creation of very dynamic brushes. You can create brushes that act like physical media.

OP here. The thread has hit its bump limit. I had no idea how successful this thread would be when I started it 2 months ago, but lots of brushes have been shared and quite a few requests have been filled.

After this falls off page 10, I'm going to rearrange the brushes in my MEGA account, so they're a bit more organized for the next Procreate brushes thread. I'll make a new thread with my links, or just post them to a new thread if someone makes another first.
