There's a long history in art of finding inspiration in everything - surreallists, picasso, gaugoin, Orientalism, Primitivism, it's all based on cultures mixing together.
I think it seems more racist to never look at another culture and see something to admire and learn from. To shun it and treat it as an outsider, that seems much worse to me.
I think it's worthwhile though if you are gonna take something from another culture to do your best to understand what you are taking - for example if japanese teenagers started to wear purple heart medals because they are cool-looking, that's pretty different than if they start to wear cowboy boots. So just understand what you are taking
