If I was good at math, I should have opted for engineering or math programs instead of drawing Magic the Gathering commisions or Bethesda concept art for pennies. I hate my stupid brain

I have horrible linework, horrible anatomy, I can't draw from imagination, however I spend 5 hours polishing my work and people suck my dick to get the chance to get their characters drawn by me, and no I'm not posting my work I would never admit to those things without being anonymous.

Don't share your secrets for free. If you're getting paid then you can share 1/4 of them I guess.

Low self-esteem, crippling doubt and fear. It’s real and it burns out a lot of smaller creators.

As for tips, make friends and know what you’re good at but don’t stay in your comfort zone all the time. If you want to do graphic novels or high-end editorial illustration, get an agent. You can get your foot in the door with mediocre art if you have access to an agent and learn how to pitch— just take a look in your local bookstore’s comic section. Kids graphic novels are where the money’s at right now. Study the art you hate as much as the art you love. Learn what works for you and how it works. Keep a sketchbook that you just go in and fuck up every so often and don’t show social media. Fuck social media, don’t be annoying and opinionated because artists are the most catty and petty people on the planet and you will be alienated by your peers, no matter how good your art is. Do studies of old masters and your favorite artists. Also eat some vegetables and rest your eyes from screens, and make sure you’re at least being a little active. Or you’ll fucking die.

Subject matter is king and drawing interesting stuff is more important than art quality if all you want is internet clout which does feel flattering every now and then, but doesn't change the fact that you're still a loser
