I worked a normal schedule that was horrible you cant do shit.
>2 hours spent going to and from work
>8 working
>1 lunch break if you have one
That already leaves you 13 hours.
Sleeping less than 6 hours on a regular basis will make you see and hear things so 7 hours of free time.

If you're going to do anything else at all like eating, showering, cleaning, smoking that cuts your entire free time to say 5 hours.

I was blessed to get a job in shifts.

I'd love to earn money through art though right now I make sure my life doesn't depend on it. I work as a webdev slave and I can get by financially but not enough to live comfortably.
Drawing is a nice way to get off of the computer and clear the head and recently I started taking it more serious as I got some interest from other people.
Just yesterday I was at a 2 life figure drawing sessions and drew figures for 6 hours in total just to get the experience under my belt and honestly it feels good to work so hard on it even if it doesn't bring me any financial gain. It gives my life a bit of purpose and a goal.
My goal for this year is to see if I can make a dollar off of it but I'm still figuring out which subjects and target audience I'm going to aim for. I know some people personally who might be interested to buy something.
Just need the confidence to push through and not give up.

Then please explain you can walk into an art supply store, buy whatever quality paint or medium you use and can make a piece of art with it. By no means am I saying art is only made for money but blaming a system that makes materials easier to come by to ultimately make more work is dense. It’s not capitalism that decides what art is popular. It’s marketing that makes people susceptible to buying baseless pieces by stupid fucks who can network well.
And if that’s too hard understand than use this analogy;
>You think Michelangelo made all the famous art in chapels and cathedrals because it was intrinsic? Or do you think a motherfucker had to eat and bills to pay?
Go back to class in your biased university to earn your art opinion paper that mom and dad paid for.

It's the
>Consumer argument
By this logic art should be anime and porn, because those are the "art" that actually makes money. Many artists that don't want to fall into the degeneracy will be demoralized and forced to give up
>"What is the point in creating something that will not be seen or outright ignored because it isn't [insert current popular consumer product here]?"
Capitalism allows you to capitalize on what you can offer, but the system has been twisted and molded into a living hell by psychopaths and those who enabled them because money.
Everything is marketing, nothing is genuine.
Look at /ic/ and how much expression most works have here:
>Basically none
It's all bland crap that is supposed to be consumed in an instance only to jump off to the next one.
Many discussion on this board are
>How to social media
>how to do current trend
>how to earn money
>crabbing
>porn
What we have isn't even Capitalism anymore.
It's the final form of it.
An abomination so great nobody even wants to fathom what it would be like to do art for its own sake.
If you want money so desperately, get a regular job.
And yes, Art can thrive as a business, but only as that and if you're willing to sell your soul and humanity.
Enjoy your fried McAnime, lardass

I'm not against capitalism as a whole, but you are confusing an economic system with the simple concept of of availability, just because you inject money mindlessly into an idea it won't be a guaranty of quality or creatibity, returning to your example, do you think michael angelo became good because of money, or was the money that came to michael angelo because he was good enough to attract the attention of the pope.

Recently "retired" engineer here; I lived at with my folks and saved every penny for a few years.

I went to an arts high school, did drugs and bummed around for a few years in my 20s, self-taught myself math thru diffy qs, got an EE degree/internship/job, and just quit.

I got gud while I was in school now I'm starting to show and sell oil paintings. I intend to get a part time job, barista or something, so that I can smooth out the income variation and get some social face time. While I was working EE I got at least 30 minutes a day in, before work, of gesture drawing.

There are sacrifices and weeks of suicidal ideation.
