its not a waste of time per se, but are you realizing any improvements between each iteration? look at your image and think, what specific part is your largest shortcoming. now go study it in depth, rotate it, understand its volume. now if you do a new iteration use that new knowledge to improve it. just brute forcing the same sketch again and again without critical thinking and study is a really slow way to improve.

Use your coomer mind to your advantage, look at the ass, does fat, flesh, and skin really act like that?
Would her right thigh and everything below really protrude out perpendicular to the viewer's light of sight, despite the rest of her body pointing at a different angle?
How do those luscious thighs connect to those wide hips?
Is her ass and pelvis really that wide and skewed to her right?
Where would her arms/hands stop when standing up?
You've certainly improved since your first drawin, but there are numerous persistent issues that arise in each iteration.

Self critically, I feel like I'm not using my construction lines to their fullest, they seem less useful when they aren't accurate, so now I'm starting to understand why the fundies are pushed so hard. If your dude isn't 6-8 heads tall, the thigh is going to be out of wack and you'll spend 8 redraws of the thigh never to get it just right. Of course I chicken scratched, but with these I tried to be stronger with my lines, I found a leather glove and that's helped with drawing on the ipad. I had some real nice flow states here and there. Thank u again anon, your positive and encouraging tone sure makes me want to improve to see what you'll say the next time. Have you thought about teaching? You make people that are doing terribly want to keep going, and that's how you get a kid to read jane austin.

Hey welcome to the /beg/ thread! ic is only as good as the people in it so try your best and be kind. First things first, resize your image, see the thread header. Secondly try and rotate your image, I know some phones fuck it up and 4chan sometimes fucks with it too.

With that preamble out of the way lemme critique!
- Your proportions on the man are wrong and the woman is wrong too
- The female looks masculine and the breasts appear flat
- Good news is you used blank paper and had some fun with colour!
- You're cheating by not showing hands or feet
- I like the body hair and moles on your guys very cool and most don't do it.
- You've got a decent grasp of male legs, not great but you aren't retarded
- Head is too small on male
- Shoulders are too small on male
- Shoulders are too wide on female
- Hips are too wide on male
- Hips are almost right on female hard to tell sideways lol
- Draw the face
- You symbol draw the upper body, not too bad but still.

How to study:
- This is least important TO YOU. You need to work on Line confidence but it's not the worst. It's beginner but not your biggest concern.
- Check out male and female proportions
- You need some gesture drawings. ANYONE who wants to draw humans needs gesture. Do 5 pages minimum a WEEK. Just do 60 second ones to understand the flow
- Study hands and feet. Feet are harder imo but hands are inherently ugly.
- You specifically need to study arm musculature. My favourite body builder hands down is Bob Paris. Check out his physique.
- Study breasts head on. You can't really show how a breast looks with only lines from the front, you need to shade. Draw 5 pages of only breasts. Don't get a boner lol
- Double check knees. Knees are weird but you did pretty well

Hey man lemme try and steer you in the right direction.
Look up deliberate practice. There is a lot you can start with so honestly whatever piques your interest isn't a bad start. The best way to practice is in a way that doesn't burn you out. So if you wanna do gestures, do a bunch then draw something fun. Beginners also commonly avoid projects. In short, study, do something fun, MAKE A PROJECT. Remember: Finished, not perfect. Projects give you more experience than any type of studying.

yeah, it's actually good that you are redrawing sketches that you find lacking, it's a good habit to get into, but the important thing is to notice and be aware of what it is that it is lacking, if the pose looks awkward or unrealistic consult reference of pinups with that pose or something, and then redraw. another worthwhile thing is to draw it another way, like starting from a different bodypart, or starting with very loose gesture, or drawing every bodypart as a block in perspective at first. this way you are analyzing the drawing in many ways, and it will give you many insights into the problem you might not have thought about before.

yeah it definitely looks better. dont be afraid to push your shadows a bit. and you can leave the airbrush just for the background. also remember that the shadow needs to have a hard edge and a darker value close to the object it casts, because without it the objects looks like its floating - and the seagull does look like its floating a bit.
the highlights on the ribbon look a bit mechanical ( i mean these 2 diagonal lines).
the highlight/shading on that thing in the left upper corner still looks airbrushed in a not good sense of the word, at least use a cool color instead of black in the shadow.
also maybe limit the color palette a bit? make the reds cooler or the blues warmer?

Hard to say the cause then. Try letting it dry much longer before erasing. Maybe a kneaded eraser to lift the Mark's rather than scrubbing. At the end of the day, may just be that the type of ink on the type of paper is smudgey.
When I use the pentel pocket brush on copy paper I dont really have any smudging issues.

Redrawing the same thing over and over is a very slow way to improve and a pretty fast way to burn yourself out
You should practice different things and keep one or two you want to redraw tomorrow. If you give it another go tomorrow you will nottice your mistakes, if you are constantly staring at the same sketch you dont.
Also differentiate between what you want as a study and what you want as a finished work, if you are trying to make something its ok to sketch it múltiple times, use different references and work on it for a prolonged period of time. A study is something you do then throw away because its garbage, its only meant to improve your skills not to be seen by other people, its a bad idea to get hang up on them.
The first profesor i ever had uses to make is work really hard on our studys, then he would take a look at them and throw them all over the table. You could dig it out of the pile of you wanted but that would be missing the point

For the time being, that's okay anon. As you begin to work more without ref, you'll start producing figures with much more ease and less time consumption. It's just a matter of developing a natural sense of body/ feature placement, as well as a visual library of different poses.

As for your drawing, it's pretty solid, you might want to consider line weight and simplifyng the hands, though. Other than that, good job and good luck!

It's the chin. I dunno what to do there and retried it so many times to look more feminine but never got it right.

Grippy looking hands was also the main reason why I did this pose because I wanted to try drawing them like pic related but never got it to look right. The fingers would always look like they were resting on the butt rather than gripping on it.

as a total beginner you're supposed to spend some time on them, like dont do them mindlessly but try to understand what youre doing. once you feel like you've figured it out, they're supposed to be a form of warmup. but dont sweat it, if an exercise annoys you dont do it. all of these exercises main purpose is to learn to draw with dynamic lines instead of scratching and keeping a mindful approach to drawing textures instead of just drawing a bunch of small lines. if you understand these principles you can move on. check peter's twitch to see it in action

Yes. They are warm ups. Imo he goes overboard with them the first week making the the focus of the whole first week. I am sure he has a reason for doing the class like that. But if you're not actually taking the class just do the line/box exercises for 5-10 minutes a day. Many different instructors do similar thing (for example in Scott Robertson's How to draw). Ellipses, lines, boxes hatching and other such things are all great warm ups. Also do gesture warm up.

Good that you are practicing. That's the right thing to do. You shouldn't be drawing stylized faces when you are just starting out. Learn from observation. Learn head drawing techniques, learn anything you can and apply it with your best efforts. I am not saying to not draw anime, it's fun. But when you are learning it is better to draw more realistic faces. Occasionally draw some anime, for example after practice for a couple weeks draw one or two anime faces for fun. Learn to form and and basic perspective to draw different things Draw at your desk everday and carry a small sketchbook and draw whenever you have time.

Learn the bones, then you can simply "hang" the muscles on them.
Once you know the bones the muscles will be easy since all you need to know is the origin and insertion.

You know fat people gain weight lost back the fastest? I wonder why... Kill yourself, smoothbrain.

>>4280827
>>4280827
Cereal + burrito, gee whiz, I wonder what that could be... doesn't take a genius to figure out that's no where near 2000 calories.
Either fast completely or limit your weight loss to 1% of your total weight per week.

Generally speaking everything that has to do with learning art is hard to learn and a long process. You'll make some pretty significant progress in your first few weeks because learning how to draw a basic volume for example is going to be a massive step up from a stick figure but after those initial gains you're generally going to be measuring in weeks/months and not in hours.

>You know fat people gain weight lost back the fastest?
Because they spent their entire life stuffing their fat face? It's much harder to change behaviour than lose weight.

Eating less is going to lose weight a lot faster than eating the same but working out.
Not to mention most people start eating more per day when they start working out so they still won't lose any weight.
Think about it, instead of doing 30 minutes of cardio, you could also simply eat 1 less potato.

No, you dumbfuck.
Fucking with your hormones results in greater hunger with greater food intake.
Fucking with your metabolism means increased weight gain with fewer calories.
Both of these are a result of poor calorie deficit diets.
Try reading someday.

I'm talking about strength training, cardio doesn't do shit. You'll get a boost to your metabolism which will help you slim down passively and at least you'll gain some muscle in addition to fat if you're eating at a surplus.

Are there any good resources on how to colour your drawings with pencils? I've got a set of prismacolors but whenever I use them it all comes out looking scratchy and trash. I know I must be fucking something up but I just dunno what

I'm 24 years year old and when I was 18 I spent a whole year (yes a whole year) drawing 5-10 hours consistently a day, following guides in the sticky and helpful tutorials on YouTube. Now that I have the itch to pick it back up, I've noticed my skill level has severely disintegrated. Is my dream of drawing high quality porn a lost cause? Not trolling, wish I was lol
