Since the bodies are turned toward the right a bit, it looks weird to have the completely symmetrical arms and vag. The shoulders look really hunched and pulled back in the non-posed ones. You should have more of your shadow color. Having just the tiny bits of shadow around the edges makes everything look flat, or at least weirdly front-lit

That's fine, but don't just leave it at that. Black lines are rarely used in sprites as they add nothing to the image, especially smaller scale ones. Outline borders may be used to help the sprite stand out from the background, but rarely is it employed for the entire sprite.

I'm pretty satisfied with the demon, but the lady is preddy fugged up. Going to tweak her hair/skin colors, and touch up the face and arms. Anything else? Weird edges or jaggies I missed?

The arms look like wooden sticks, that strands of hair going to the back looks more to like a dreadlock, and personally I don't like the shading on the snout, and on the fur, I think you can achieve the same result with 3 or 4 colors.
I liked the details in the end of the fur, the horn and the lower part of the creature's body.

Hello! It's going well. I started my ADHD treatment and everything is alright now. Vacations are coming and I'm working a lot on the story so when they finally come I can dedicate more time creating assets that won't go to waste. It's a solo zero budget project so it's all about cutting whatever I can. I'm learning a bit of pixelart every night now but what I really want is to run a modest Kickstarter campaign so I can hire an artist to do the polishing.

I'm following Video Game Storytelling by Evan Skolnick.

Did my first piece of pixel art today, can you guys give me some constructive criticism. Also I wanted to make the fire reflect of the tree and the character and also to cast a shadow behind him but didn't know exactly how to do it (tried cross hatching but it didn't look so well)

I don't know which game that's from but there was a lot of 3d based assets mixed with pixel art in late 90's and early 2000's arcades and GBA games. That particular example doesn't look like 3d to me though.

Night scenes are going to be more monochromatic and bluish. You wouldn't see such strong greens and browns in the trees for instance. A common approach to a scene like this would be to have two light sources; 1 from the moon in the upper left and a secondary from the fire in the house which creates rim light in the tree, figure and hills etc.

I like the texture and blending dither provides, but then again I am from the era where pixel art was viewed on CRT screens. Too much emphasis on clustering gives pixel art a unfinished look in my eyes.
