There is hardly any jobs in Australia relating to 'illustration' - mostly just cookie cutter graphic design plain boring creative crap, seems like people are more likely to get work the less training and able they are to draw.
Here I am being able to work pencil and digital and work with quils nibs - feels like I've wasted all the years learning how draw everything and now no one needs talent -
Looking elsewhere I'm starting to apply to illustrator jobs in the US, so would move over if I got an offer and work visa.

Anyone done this?
Assuming I am better than the local talent and have what the workplace requires will they issue a work visa?

I want to work in the film industry - namely Hollywood and go all the way - Fashion design, Storyboarding, character design - the whole bit, so yes the move is worth it and required.

Just like locals from Chicago or Ohio move to LA to go where the work is.

Ok work is one thing but have you heard of the living conditions there? Bruh. You'd be surprised at how much you can do remotely. I make storyboards and character design from home and I work for agencies from across the globe. People seriously need to drop the idea that you need to relocate to get every job, especially in IT and design. It's awful for the environment, living conditions inside cities and your mental health.
>>4214940
You're gonna have to come up with something more original than that to make it in LA or anywhere at all

These were a joke - my art, but a 50% capactiy.

My mentality where i am is causing decay, i get the world is all digital and convienient, but some artists grow and become better by getting out from their hometowns/countries, exploring, creating, meeting new people, having goals, working in film etc. I'd rather go somewhere and fail rather than sit on 4chan saying I am doing something and sending a few TIFFs to employers getting paid a little each year.

Do you mean LA - Smog, overpopulation, homelessness..immigrants?? - or USA in general ??

Isn't it mean't to be one of the best countries in the world??

Noo it's terrible, I'm not even gonna elaborate. By all rankings Australia is one of the best places to live in the world, not to mention it has the wealthiest citizens (after the mini countries).

Personally I developed the most as an artist once I finally settled at home. I used to travel, go on scholarships, work in foreign studios... I mean do that, I definitely recommend it for personal growth, but in the end it's just exhausting and takes your mind away from improving at your craft.

You're so out of touch, and I mean that gently. This isn't an insult, just a statement. I think maybe you should do some more research on this and learn about networking. It's not about what you guys can accomplish together. You're not buddies. It's about what you can do for them, and what they can do for you is hooking you up with a job.

Obviously not op, but how hard is it to get an art related job? I really would want one, because it would allow me to work from home, yet from what I hear it's a nightmare where you have to suck everyone off.

I see, just illustrators do not go to America for work is what you are saying?-- Illustrators work on computers?, not with pencils, ink, paint, canvas etc?
Illustrators don't paint scenery at the location anymore, according to you, on 4chan - everyone should experience their life from their computer and sit in their room.

Those matte painters for movie sets though, they are allowed to move according to you.

God forbid one of these crazy artist folk go out and travel 1000's of miles, paint portraits and then happen on a new life they never imagined, even one without art in it anymore.

Can see why you're so angry.

These aren't very good
might as well just become a graphic designer for the time being.
Also I doubt there really are so few job opportunities in aussieland
every book needs cover art and every brand needs a logo,
You can introduce your "exceptional" art skills into your designs to rise up the ranks if you want.
