I am still learning myself so take this all with a grain of salt. Your brushwork is very messy and your use of detail is distracting, especially in the teeth. Giving a character a smooth, cartoonish face and more realistically detailed teeth creates an uncanny valley feeling. In general, when trying to do a cartoony/anime style it helps to simplify where you can

Even if they're not the proportions you're interested in, drawing real people can always help. Even stick figures can be useful if you try to draw them with correct perspective. A lot of my knowledge comes from what my instructor had taught me, copying skeleton and muscle charts while remembering key points, focusing on old master drawings that deal with perspective, figure gesture with ink, Hogarth's hand and feet studies, and working from models.

After that, it was just a matter of continuing to practice by drawing from life, more master studies, and looking into my preferences in media, mostly from SF3, NGE, and GitS 95'

Her eyes are clearly different sized, neck too thicc and flat, the pillow shading doesn’t help the piece either.

You should try to capture the essence of her expression instead of just drawing a generic smile molding resembling the original, that’s how you get a piece that has “soul” and is appealing. But to do this you need to study a lot of good anime artists first, which will probably help out with the rest of your shortcomings too. Good luck anon.

Basically plumb lines, yeah. I can do it mentally if it's just a few lines, but most of the lines are usually hidden and may never actually be used. I like the stylistic direction you're going in with this, but a lot of elements are off.

You aren't leaving enough room for the back of the head and you should look at the shape a baseball cap has, yours looks a bit squashed. Ear is pretty large and the upper end encroaches on the rest of the face, ears are actually slightly angled outwards at the top.
The eye closer to the viewer is a bit too close to the nose.

You don't have a very good understanding on how the shoulder section works, it seems like you're drawing the deltoid muscles partway down the arm, but they're really what give shoulders their shape, so they need to be higher up - see pic. The arms are too long, particularily the his right one (our left).

On the right hand (our left), the thumb doesn't really look like a thumb and on the left (our right) the fingers should curl more strongly towards the pinky, not less. Even if you want to draw all from imagination and use no refs at all it really helps to do a hand pose yourself and see how you would naturally do it.

For clothing folds, less is more, especially if you're unsure about where to place them. You clearly put a lot of effort into the pants and shoes and have a good eye for detail, but the hoodie looks a bit like an afterthought in comparison. The drawstrings of the hoodie should be as thick as the shoelaces at least, it looks strange to stylize one as just a line and give the other one volume.

Anyway, that's a lot of criticism, but I actually think it's good you're challenging yourself like that and not just drawing something that already comes easily - otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to write this.

Anon, I know people are shitting on you for the leg but I think it looks absolutely fine if you want it to look that way. Good shape design and the face is cute. Consider bringing in more variation in hue with your colors, push your darks and lights more. Dont compromise your style because you are told its "incorrect." Keep up the good work!

This may sound strange but you're not paying enough attention to your own reference. Rather than a heavily stylized version of the reference you posted it looks like it was merely inspired. Your second go at it looks great, but you still havent captured the "feeling" and "motion" of the pose. Look at her left foot and see how you anchored it at the same level as her right, where in the reference its much further behind in space. I think you did a great job stylizing the figure itself, but give the pose another go, and try to retain some fidelity from your reference with that awesome, funky style you've got going now.
