Real talk, has anyone been able to archive the drawr.net site? Deadline is december 2nd and the data will be permanently wiped for good.

It's a drawing website where people post their work, but it had a gimmick where it would save the entire process of your drawing as a video if you drew on the website. You could go through galleries and watch all the works be drawn with the same tools. A lot of varied stuff on there. It is slated to be shut down and all the art with process will be gone. I never used it and just looked a couple times, so this is fairly unbiased

>> No.4193217

Yeah the work is in progress, but there's some problems

If the writer of this script (https://mega.nz/#!1s92WSKT!aB5_RxZlsLQ95Q0X3Lp8et-CrqlienQXrd_IDLB_edg)) is still here, please do join #drawrnomore at Efnet

Not the anon, but what do they need help with? Do they not understand the script or how to extend it to encompass the entire site userbase?

>> No.4195780

>>4194978
They're not really using his script, but they're experiencing the same problem that the script writer anon (>>/ic/thread/S4128602#p4161367)) was facing, which is that some of the .gz files are corrupted.
The script writer anon theorized that the corruption is because drawr store multiple backups (4a90f71cHd1jAW4i.gz, 4a90f71cHd1jAW4i_1.gz, etc.), but the guy in the IRC disagrees. He said that these multiple "backups" might actually be for Drawr's reposting functionality and has absolutely nothing to do with the corruption. They're currently still working on this.
I'm just a messenger, so I don't really know what to make of this.

I'm also having a problem backing up http://drawr.net/sijimiya using the script as the .gz file won't play at all (this doesn't happen with other drawr users), so this is really worrying. Might have something to do with the corruption issue, but idk.

>> No.4195789

>>4195780
http://drawr.net/show.php?id=6390379
As an example, I tested this one and grabbed all 4 copies of the .gz files.
http://img06.drawr.net/draw/img/166212/56447f97Bdk2aZ93.gz
http://img06.drawr.net/draw/img/166212/56447f97Bdk2aZ93_1.gz
http://img06.drawr.net/draw/img/166212/56447f97Bdk2aZ93_2.gz
http://img06.drawr.net/draw/img/166212/56447f97Bdk2aZ93_3.gz

None of them plays properly using the script writer anon's modified .sfw file.
56447f97Bdk2aZ93_3.gz kinda plays, but it displays an empty canvas and some incomplete brush splotches here and there.

So the backup theory might be wrong after all. Maybe there's a way to combine all 4 of these files in order to play them?

That's not the finished image. It's a repost. Drawr let's you draw over other users posts. The issue is getting the image of the original post getting archived correctly. That's what I'm working on atm. Reading the AMF3 file format is causing issues though.

Not the original anon who made it, but I updated the drawr script. I'm not a coder, so expect a lot of shittiness and bugs. Please do report any errors or mistakes.
https://www99.zippyshare.com/v/ms76bXMY/file.html

what's new:

scrape.py = Updated it so that it grabs all the gz files (it used to only download the first one) plus the xml file (important for offline playback)

xml_proc.py = A new script for processing the files created by scrape.py. This script will process the xml files and generate shortcuts for video playback. Opening the shortcut will instantly play the video in a flash projector. No more awkward manual setup!

In order to use it, you need to first open the script in a notepad and find this line:
flashdir = "C:/path/to/flashplayer_32_sa.exe"
Replace the directory with the directory to your actual flash projector executable.

Note: When you run the script and it asks you for a directory, don't enter the directory with a backslash in the end and don't put quotes around the directory (yeah I know, shitty.)

xml_reset.py = Reverses the changes done by xml_proc.py
Useful if you're moving the directory, since the shortcuts are hardcoded.

Note that playback is not 100% guaranteed, there are a few edge cases where offline playback is simply not yet possible, usually caused by file corruption, reposts or other esoteric functionalities. This is especially true for older drawings.
But it should work for like 80% of the time.

And yeah, I know that ArchiveTeam is already on the process of archiving, but this is just in case of a worst case scenario.
Do make some personal backups with these tools!

1. Download and install Python 3.x

Make sure to tick the checkbox that says "Add Python 3.x to PATH"

2. Download Flash Projector
https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html
https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/32/flashplayer_32_sa.exe

3. Download and extract the drawr scripts to a separate folder

4. Inside that folder, open xml_proc.py with your notepad and find the following line:

flashdir = "C:/path/to/flashplayer_32_sa.exe"

Replace the directory with the directory to your actual flash projector executable.
Example: flashdir = "C:/Users/Faggot/Downloads/flashplayer_32_sa.exe"

5. With the folder of the drawr scripts open in your explorer, type 'cmd' to the address bar

6. Enter the following command: py -3 scrape.py [drawr username]
Example: py-3 scrape.py sijiyama

7. Once download is finished, enter the following command: py -3 xml_proc.py

8. Type in the directory of the drawr gallery folder you just scraped, when asked.
Example: C:\Users\Faggot\Downloads\drawr-scraper\sijiyama
Do not put a slash in the end and don't put quotes around it

9. Once the script is finished, open the drawr gallery folder and you'll find shortcut files accompanying each png. Launch any of these shortcuts to view the video.

You might get dependencies error when first launching the script, because I don't know shit about setting them up properly. Just tell me the error message and I'll tell you how to fix it.

scrape.py =
-Updated it so that it no longer 403s on some png files. Check your files created by the previous versions of the script and make sure there were no corrupted pngs.
-Gutted out the -v and -i options because I'm too lazy to make it work

xml_proc.py =
-Generates batch files instead of shortcut files this time. Batch files are more convenient because launching multiple batch files will result into a single combined Flash taskbar icon, instead of multiple split ones that shortcut files will create
-Updated command syntax to make it more consistent. Use the new script this way:
py -3 xml_proc.py C:\Users\Faggot\Downloads\drawr-scraper\sijimiya
-Because of the batch file feature, the flash directory now needs to be formatted this way:
flashdir = "C:\\path\\to\\flashplayer_32_sa.exe"

xml_reset.py =
-Deletes .bat files instead of .lnk files
-Updated command syntax to make it more consistent. Use the new script this way:

Nah, wrote my own thing just downloading everything myself, the archive team is like a combined effort, I'm a rogue agent. I'm done scraping the website, just hammering their CDN now to download the thing's I've indexed.

I'm gonna see about how I can share it once I'm done, but it's gonna take a while, I hope I can finish before it all goes offline. I'm just shy of half way done with only the images from profiles and I'm already at like 2 million images spanning 100 GB. I only just started last night, though. Next I need to grab the images that aren't on profiles, only in threads, and then grab all the xml and gz files..

Yeah I'm saving their ID (drawr.net/user.php?id=ZZZ), their username (drawr.net/XXX) and the display name they have on their profile as well as the little description they've written. The biggest thing I'm lacking is the date of the drawings, since most aren't shown on the profile, you have to go into the post to grab that. Some are shown, but I'd like all of 'em if I'm gonna save it. Going into every drawing so get that would be an extra page load for every image, which is looking to be somewhere between 3-4 million.

Anyone have a good process / method of converting the videos from flash data to webm or a similar video format? Make everything easier to access / share.
I can't really think of a way to do this for millions of images automatically.. I guess you'd have to write your own flash program that reads the .xml and .gz and records it somehow instead of playing it.. Time to learn flash boys? ;_;

Update: Finished downloading the .png's from profiles, pic related is current haul. Just wrote the logic for downloading the .xml and .gz files and started downloading them just now. Total file count from just the profiles is probably going to be over 6 million. Hopefully size doesn't explode on me and a 2 TB disk is enough.

I haven't started looking at threads yet, don't know if I'll get them in time. Need to have logic that checks if an image in a thread has already been downloaded through a persons profile so I don't end up duplicating a ton of images.

Also the .gz files from reposts don't work yet since I haven't parsed them and grabbed the ones that require a previous post's .gz to work. I'm gonna start looking at this while the current download churns away.

It's more like 700 gig now and it's not finished yet. Checking mega and they have a download transfer limit. Even if I upgrade to pro for 1 TB storage, download caps at 2 TB, so only like barely 3 people would be able to download it all. The next plan at twice the cost caps at 8 TB. Why pessimistic? They have grabbed way more than I have and are on estimate (ish) to finish completely.
I've grabbed repost data from everything I have now as well but I only went one level deep, I don't have time for more (Going to bed and then work and the site will be dead when I'm home again). Meaning if a post with repost data is relying on another repost (and so on.. these repost chains can go for hundreds of posts), I don't have that deep repost data. Archive team should have it, though.

Also missing anything that's being posted atm. If someone wants to help out (I know archive team is gonna miss these as well), grab the files for the new posts popping up, there's quite a few people posting goodbye pictures and such. These will most likely be lost unless someone helps out.

Anyways I started toying with reimplementing the flash player in javascript, it seems doable, but it isn't 100% accurate, only been at it for a few hours - lots of things that can probably be fixed. I just wanted to see if it was possible to ditch flash.

I've backed up a decent amount just using a batch downloader over the past few months. However, there's still 800~ artists I was planning on backing up that I plan to at least try using archive.org to see how much I can get that way.

There are also the thread boards where a lot of Anons show up who don't get caught by downloading through artist profiles. A lot of these threads have some really good artists drawing around certain themes, while others are some pretty great stupid gags. There's tens of thousands of quality images that I haven't even touched there alone, so my collection honestly feels pretty lackluster.

While I am definitely interested in sharing what I have and will have, I do want to wait a little to see how the archiving of others turns out. My biggest concern would be how things are formatted. If there's no grouping by individual artists/threads, I'll upload for sure to at least ensure some of that history stays in tact.

It's a shame how useless some of the .gz data is without the previous reposts. Just looking at some you've saved here, pic related is an example from Inui. Left is what's in the single .gz file and right is the actual picture. It's missing the previous image or .gz that it's based on.

Lots are of course fine, since it's only the case if the artist posted it in multiple passes, and I think archive team has a lot of the repost data.

The flash player is shit and it just won't load a bunch of them if there's missing data (most files that rely on repost data won't load offline). I've written my own javascript app that reads .gz files and redraws the image. Still a work in progress, but the unpacking + drawing is done-ish. I'll probably share some time in the future.

A bunch of the .gz files are also just corrupt and won't be of any good to anyone. Drawr was pretty busted.
