This is a pretty good example of how you can't be too literal with photo reference shot at the wrong FOV for the perspective you are using. Rather than actual bodies floating in some kind of a void, they look like copy pasted photographs because of the subtle perspective errors.

With all its issues, it's still better than anything we will paint. Randomly pointing out technical problems on a good painting has no purpose other than making you feel good about yourself for knowing something conceptually that you can't actually demonstrate in practice.
If it was only about just understanding perspective, physics of light... conceptually you would be a master at this point. The problem is you have to apply it with whatever tools and practical skills you have. If copying directly from a photo is the only way you can create decent work then be it. Or you can strive for perfection but have no paintings to show for it. It's better to have something finished that others can spend their time nitpicking than to be the person who is constantly pointing out irrelevant weaknesses that nobody really cares about when they enjoy the painting.

I'm sorry if this discussion is too high brow for you, but it is one that has been ongoing since the mid century illustrators started relying more heavily on photo reference. Critical analysis isn't crabbing. Either refute my point or fuck off to reddit.
