If you don't turn off the stabilizers, you run the very real risk of breaking your spine when you try to swing the axe.

Have you ever made a line on paper in real life with no probables, but then you go into photoshop and draw a line and its all scribbley and jagged, stabilizers fixes that.

I always hear artists praising stabilizers as a saving grace... but does anyone else actually kind of find them annoying? like it makes the line feel sluggish? at least that's how it is on SAI and CSP.
Not that it even matters in any way but I've literally never heard anyone else talk shit about stabilizers in any way other than claiming NGMI.

I set my stabilizer to whatever value gives me the same line smoothness as I'd get using a brush on paper. Maybe I could train my hand to be even more stable to put up with this fidgety digital thingamajig, but I'm not sure what I would get out of it.

Don’t know, im just part of the marketing team, anyways either your hand is fucked or your drivers or your software. Like every tablet I use has wobbly shit to a degree so best avoid it by using a stabilizer, not too high unless you’re doing lineart.

now a bit more, one of these people sees it as a crutch, its possible to FAR overuse stabilizers, this ends up with art that is FAR to clean, and something looks very off with it. many artists will go back and fix work sure, but over use of stabilizers is a bit of an issue.

on the other hand, digitizers work by triangulation points on the surface of the tablet, this is done several hundred to thousands of times a second, and a good stabilizer smooths this shit out, you want enough so your lines aren't constantly fucked, but not so much that that you draw perfect circles drunk. the one tool I remember the most is lazy brush, this treats what you are doing like you are drawing with a string attached to the work. this is less stabilization in the form of a gimbal and more stabilization in the form of attaching a cable to a very large pvc pile rig so every movement you make only changes the cameras position a little bit, if this comparison makes sense.

either one you use, just don't abuse it and your fine.

For awhile I had the stabilizer on my inking brush set to 14 for smooth lines but it was feeling so artificial and not "mine" that I set that shit to 4.

Its not as clean, its imperfect, but I'm satisfied knowing that line is MINE. I MADE THAT LINE, ME. The roughness adds character and energy too so it looks better

There is always stabilisation anyway since the software has to link the sensed points.
Traditionnal is not a chore. It's a chance.
If you didn't understand that : ngmi.
