What sort of stuff have you guys been studying lately? I was thinking about doing aguri’s guide but I’ve mostly been just doing figure drawing and referring to Hampton when I have parts that I don’t quite get.

The Peter Han/drawabox meme is a big thing lately. I kind of get it because construction drawing, but also grinding boxes forever is a good way to never make it.

ok then forget grinding boxes, why don't you just do construction drawings?

I just meant that I can see why that would be a trap, whenever I see people doing that shit it’s always “I did my 500th page of boxes, idk why I can’t kim jung ji yet”

hampton and anatomy for sculptors.

i never got the anatomy for sculptors hype, it’s autistic depth into something that can be better represented in simplified form. for most of the begs here it’s nothing but a rabbit hole that you’ll get no productive knowledge from

I did a bit of Loomis but I always found him hard to follow, and tedious to read.

Been grinding Vilppu. Gonna be grinding for months to come. Not gonna give up until I'm fluent in everything he teaches.

>aguri's guide
are there similiar overview out there? like a list of resources and in what order to tackle each field etc, with a timeframe of completion in mind.

drawabox tells you specifically not to grind, you fill out a couple pages of each exercise and move on

I collected a bunch of tutorials and shit and organized them in a huge archive of mine. Currently I'm studying hands

i've been trying to learn how to draw more appealing characters instead being only limited to realism. really need to start focusing on environments though. i wanna make comfy backgrounds but im not powerful enough yet.

grinding construction is good, but it almost seems like people get too autistic about trying to follow a specific program and never deviate from it. none of these books should be treated like bibles, just references the give you an idea of how to move forward.
this one seems pretty good for beginners imo though
